Tiered Dresses & Skirts S/S 06

The tiered skirt has most definately made its mark here in London already this summer, and I am so tired of it. Now they just conjour up images of cheap polyester skirts from discount stores in suspect colours. I personally will be glad to see the back of this

I think the only thing tiers look good on is cakes. I thing it's also because of the gypsy epidemic we are currently suffering, it's made my burning dislike for them grow.

I personally like it. It's different from boho-tiered; definitely more feminine and romantic. And it's a good way to utilize the volume trend that's been going around.

w/out looking too gypsy / wedding cake / mammoth hips etc.

I only like this type of skirt when the ruffles are limited to a maximum of two small rows and aren't overly cheery.. it just has to look 'right' for me.

i wear it mostly to party around, paired with a simple black top or light pink fitted top.

I am already sick of these..... I remember them "first" majorly popping out on the runway during S/S 05..... but now they are indeed becoming quite huge.... well on the runway that is.... I very wonder how they will translate in real life, because they're more suited for evening wear.....

I cannot imagine everysingle kid on my street wearing a tiered skirt....... So are they the new skirt (last season being the boho tiered ones!? )?

Really not liking this "trend"... ..with the wrong fabrics/cuts, it can look awfully cheap and tacky....

Amen to this sentiment. Frankly, I love the long, tiered dresses from the runways (I'm a total girl, what can I say?), I have a vintage dress made of black lace that has these tiers and I love it. But I shudder to think of this trend going mass-market...$20 skirts made of polyester and neon colors and stripes or something...and every girl walking down the street wearing them with her flip flops and knockoff bag, like the peasant skirt this year or the tiered mini the year before. Bad, bad, bad. I just want this look to stick to formal styles with good cuts and fabrics.

I have been really put off the whole tiered, layered skirt look after the heavy push of the peasant look. It just went on for too long. The only thing thay I would say is that when it is one layer and is almost a 'pouf' skirt I really love it, but only in the short lengths. Although I havent seen much in the longer version and suspect the balance and fabrics would really play a huge part in it. Overall - No, please no....

I have a red 70s dress like this! Long with three tiers. I think its a little full on to wear outside my bedroom though!
