You're making such an astute observation about Hedi.
There's this sad irony in people calling him "emo" while simultaneously proving his point by only appreciating his work after he leaves each house.
They mock him but then their behavior (only valuing him in retrospect) probably reinforces those exact emotional patterns he may have developed from past experiences....
It's actually quite profound when you think about it - he revolutionized menswear at Dior Homme, transformed Saint Laurent, and brought his vision to Celine, yet people seem to fully recognize the impact only after he's gone. and still continue to minimize his impact.
The whole "emo boy" dismissal probably hits deeper than people realize, especially if he's had experiences of not feeling appreciated in his youth....
Contract negotiations at Dior with Maria Grazia make more sense in this context, I presume MGC isnt letting them buy her out or otherwise remove her to replace her with Hedi...
If this is true then Maria's refusal to align herself with Dior is nothing short of astonishing, a striking display of both ignorance and audacity. From her body of work, one might surmise a certain detachment from reality, bordering on delusion. Maria is nobody to hassle Dior. Dior tells you to leave - you leave with a smile Maria.
