I can't believe I'm saying this, but Hedi is too good for Gucci. I hope he doesn't stoop to that level. Direct films. Take photographs. Write a book. Anything but Gucci.

I would love Hedi to go Chanel but I think him going to Gucci would be great, I would love him to do a Celine 2.0, not necessarily design aesthetics but reviving it to be another multi billion business, pretty sure he can do it, just not likely he will want that job from past feuds.

Italian Hedi Slimane feels weird and uncharted but I guess it could be good. Gucci finally getting that “elevation” they want. If I were Kering I’d swallow any pride and just let him have it all. Perhaps, an eventual return to Yves Saint Laurent, beauty, haute couture and all can be arranged if he makes them enough money, but I’m going overboard.

I still think this is baseless and unlikely.

It’s the same issue with Gucci.

Hedi’s passion is not fashion. It’s the perspective of the whole project. If any discussion regarding his next gig involve a non-fully integrated brand, it may never happen.

Bottega Veneta is literally the only fully integrated brand at Kering. And the number of fully integrated brands is very small as the majority of them are either owned the founders (Dolce Gabbana) or in the LVMH group, which Hedi left.

The guy is going to photograph.

Why would Hedi go back to Kering though after the dramatic way in which he left last time, which included suing Kering for his something to do with his non-compete? It would be bizarre, no?

Also, why leave Celine to go to Gucci? What could possibly entice him to do this project apart from money?

L’Oreal bought the license 1.5 Billion in 2008, which is half the revenues of the fashion brand now (without inflation). So, that license worth probably as much as the brand now.
And 2 years ago, the CEO of l’Oreal stated that they made a very very long term agreement back in 2008 and that they have no risk of losing it.

I think KERING has more chance getting back the Gucci and Balenciaga license before getting YSL.

Pinault wasn’t clever because YSL beauté was a fully functional operation when it was sold.

And yes, Hedi’s exit from KERING ended with a legal action (like Nicolas). So he isn’t coming back.

I was responding to the ideas a poster put forth about Hedi's childhood trauma. There's something kind of ironic about how the fashion industry claims to celebrate creative vision but can't seem to just let Hedi be Hedi without turning it into a psychological case study...

Looking back Gucci of 2008 - it was directly inspired by Dior Homme. That aesthetic remains as chic as ever. However, we must perpetually evolve and mature.

Which moves into how Hedi's work has dynamically evolved instead of remaining in his Dior Homme look.

Hedi, has an almost intuitive grasp of the ebb and flow - the requirements - of the zeitgeist. His body of work is an almanac of our society's needs.

Dior Homme now feels stiff compared to the suppleness of Celine. His DH was straight cut with his DH-signature diagonal darts. This evolved at YSL and at now at Celine he has sophisticated use of darting.

The Dior Homme Man 2002 would think the Celine Man 2022 is boring and is not sleek enough - fussy. Key lifestyle differences would be the Celine man can make his own restaurant-quality food at home. The DH man would think cooking for himself is quaint.

The article on Instagram pages seems constrained by an obligatory word count. Who would not want to be in Los Angeles instead of enduring Parisian winters?

As for Hedi Slimane, it must be noted that he honed his craft at Yves Saint Laurent even prior to the era of Tom Ford. For them to suggest that Hedi has not been acquainted with haute couture for nearly three decades betrays ignorance. If anything, it is evident that the current manifestation of Celine is entirely Hedi’s direction and a reflection of his singular vision for cut and construction. It stands as his most sophisticated, most quintessentially French, and most intricately informed by the traditions of haute couture.

Hedi assume the helm at Gucci, would be a seismic cultural shift. He would undoubtedly refine their ready-to-wear to an unparalleled elevation. I'm wondering if he will introduce Gucci Alta Moda with a runway presentation ...

Going by his last offering, it really gives the impression it was absolutely Chanel or nothing. And Chanel’s loss. Frankly, hope he takes a couple of years off before finally reviving Armani.

Always will be shopping secondhand/deadstock for the select pieces from his eternal Dior Homme every now and then. Even own some Celine coats/jackets now— and just made a recent retail Celine purchase since that damn jacket looked so good from the moment it caught my eye, and I’ll likely be wearing it until the end of days. And I’d imagine the usual secondhand-shopping for his Celine from time to time.

And will always wear his Dior until my end. But not in his proposed silhouette because I have never— and will never wear anything “skinny”: I’m not skinny, and wearing that style will have me looking like those bros that wear 3 sizes too small to hypercringe flex their gymbodies. At the same time, could never relate to people that must have, must need, new fashions to buy every season like they’re grocery shopping. Good for anyone that have that sort of budget to spend on clothing, but Hedi’s sensibility has never been about a new look every season anyway, so it feels so ridiculous to be throwing out last season’s leather motorcycle jacket just to replace it with a current season’s version LOL And for someone who’s been living in the highest of ivory towers, secured in the plushiest, innermost of rarified of fashion bubbles, he’s always been extremely pragmatic in his approach to fashion. His obsession with indie musicians definitely keeps him grounded for not throwing out a style every few months. Hedi, along with Sarah and Haider, may be “boring” to many that are privileged to have a generous spending allowance when it comes to their fashion addiction, but I’m good with their offerings of classic, tailored, quality designs that are meant to be worn until the end of days, and not just for those few times for desperate attention-wh0ring. (And I know I won’t look a witless dated fashion victim of the time when I’m in their wears— like people that look back at photos of themselves every 5 years and say WTF was I wearing LMFAO)
