Hedi Slimane - Designer

Do we think Blazy is lasting a decade at Chanel?
I think so.

His style is not tiring, it doesn’t rely on gimmicks, he seems pretty nice, he is a “good” designer capable of doing interesting things and quite better than the average 2025 designer.

I can totally see it.

If untalented MGC lasted one decade doing the same dress and Demna more than one when he was burnt as hell after 10 collections … Blazy is way better than both.

I just think the bags had such a distinctive design language from the 80s till this year. You can wear vintage and it would still look like it's a part of the CC world. These new bags look completely different design language wise. TBH I kind of like the distressed bag for how crazy it is :) But i'm not sure you need to buy a new one from boutique. I'm sure you get trashed vintage version for a fraction of a price. But the one with embroidered flowers – is too crafty for Chanel... it's really giving Bottega. That does not work for me.
The one with a bird - looks more like Lanvin, but I also kind of want it :)
It's a bit strange - cause I like them breaking the formula. But on some pieces it's just stepping too far, that it doesnt feel like Chanel that we know and love!

I'm curious to see whats in the stores – cause for sure they will have more CC accesories that were not featured on the runway. How would it work for the overall image?

LOL, good joke. The brand need a rest and even an idiot know! They can happily go hiatus for like 2 years and everything can still work ok.

she mentioned it last sunday to her readers below the original short article :

Dear DeLuxers,

How are you?

It seems that the dream is becoming reality and Hedi Slimane is back!

The French designer who left Celine one year ago, a French maison he successfully revamped after years at Yves Saint Laurent and his huge success at Dior where he launched the Homme collection will join Giorgio Armani.

Going back to the archive you can read the newsletter of September 7th with highlights on why he could be perfect at the Italian maison whose founder recently passed away. This makes us think that he spent an entire year working with Giorgio himself and having a full immersion on the brand.

Exciting times ahead!

Talk to you soon, DeLuxers!

Yours truly

Susanna

So, because he moved to Milan last year, and Versace and Gucci have already appointed new creative directors, he must be going to Armani???

This sounds more like speculation than actual news, although I don't hate the idea of Hedi at Armani (or anywhere, to be honest). That said, if this is true and he knew he was going to Armani, why would he bother posting that bitter Instagram picture as a reaction to Blazy's Chanel collection? Colour me skeptical of this "news" for now.

This better be a joke.
not impossible ......if true they have things in common and can make total sense for increasing the value of Armani for the max 54.9%ish sale with in 5 years as stipulated by Armanis will (Giorgio Armani's will instructs his heirs to gradually sell the company, first by selling a 15% stake within 18 months and then another 30% to 54.9% within three to five years.)

i am ready make it happen lol ready to see the drama posts of all the non armani shoppers complain how he changed the font etc lol

From the financial point of view, it would probably be a very good choice, but I don't want Armani to turn into another Slimane clone. Giorgio developed a very distinctive language. I am afraid Slimane is going to completely ignore it and do his usual thing.

On the other hand, maybe it's better to get someone radical who will not be afraid to impose his own vision and break with the past.

if they spent a year together, I would think that there was enough trust that it was already well planned and agreed on. A five year assignment...almost a private equity style value enhancement project with some shared upside. Why not, could be a win-win, esp. when the competing houses seem to be obsessed with ugly and impractical esthetics.

I want to see Italian Hedi Slimane but this reads like an (un)educated guess—deduction of sorts. Reminds me of the time they rumored that he was already at Chanel for months after his second YSL sting. How will this even work? Plus even as a fan I’m not sure he can do sublime womenswear.

i think from old Armani if he goes there he will pull allot of 80´s stuff are cool
they have a lot in common i think he will bring his own music obsessed youth culture that is contrasting to armani hollywood culture but the rest to be honest is in same vain.

they even look alike same pinocchio nose

Giorgio himself always likes Hedi, but in his latest interview with the The Perfect Magazine, he said the future of Armani will be a “blank page”, he couldn't imagine it and he's happy with that – so it’s very unlikely that he handpicked anyone as his successor.
GA: What excites me most is that it hasn’t been written yet; it is a blank page. But I believe I have created such a strong and well-defined code that those who come after me will be able to expand it in many directions. I always enjoy the challenge of the future, the idea that times and circumstances will push us to find a suitable response in line with everything that has been done so far.

susanna nicoletta also mentioned months before fendi will have MGC so it's not so uneducated she has ways to know as she worked LVMH and prada etc
normally she writes about the business side etc

at least she is bringing the news and this i why people don't feel to share even if it might not work out with armani or chanel does not make that it was not true or in the making.

the amount of projects i worked on that last minute did not happen is not uncommon in any field especially fashion

“blank page” sounds perfect for Hedi
