Aw this means a lot to me! I just want good looking men!Perhaps this means little to women, but for us men that refuse to dress like clowns/infants/drag queens clickbaitwear that have infested so many once great brands, Hedi at Armani means great, solid, straightup classic tailored menswear with that right touch of nuanced irreverence.
Just don't touch the classic Giorgio Armani logo, and I’m good.
Hedi woman is not far from Armani one they even dressed same celebrities and models , the ultra sophisticated woman who is above trends or games will be fine at the Hedi Armani no worriesYeah I honestly.. never give any thought to menswear lol. I’m all for Hedi getting a job, it’s tough out there, and yay for music that is not techno or Cher coming back to shows, but while the men might get an upgrade, watch the Armani woman go from an ultra sophisticated woman who is above trends or games.. to a frail, insecure-looking girl who is either underage or trying to look underage and dressed as no more than a fangirl because the ‘guy in a band’ is the center of her universe. Add to that the need for influencers he integrated at Celine to keep the suits happy and this girl will be either dressed in cutesy babydoll dresses with polka dots or some gaudy ‘SWEET BABY ROCK N ROLL GIRL’ emblem embroidered in the back or in some abused trend from 2 years ago (clean girl aesthetic cargo pants included?).
because i cant write lol 🤭One thing about @PDFSD he will prove his point with receipts…
That being said, hopefully, Hedi’s dignified vision of women will extend to his runway and stores and won’t be only for the Redcarpet.
I’m still waiting on him to make design statements as a womenswear designer.
I’m not an Armani customer so I’m totally detached anyway. But from a pure fashion POV you all know how I feel about Hedi. And I’m not talking about menswear. He has nothing to prove there.
And commercial success is irrelevant.
Maybe his last Celine was indeed a pot pourri or a fourre-tout. It could be attached to any name with a B&W imagery.
its true he is weak with flou and i would say diversification of embroideries, he is sharp with it but the motives are not wide range because its anchored in glam rock mostly.Hedi’s biggest challenge, in my opinion, will be his relationship with flou. Coming from a background in tailoring, he naturally gravitates toward fabrics with a firmer, more structured hand. He will definitely need to provide flou evening gowns - and plenty of them.
I think his contract will end up being extended indefinitely - Hedi will fall in love with designing Armani hotels and furniture. Signor Slimane ultra-refined aesthetic fits seamlessly with Giorgio Armani’s super sleek world.
Armani beaute and casa already have that italian pininfarina look - I expect Hedi to make good use of those codes. Im expecting 6 figure solid crystal dining tables with fur platinum plated chairs - like unbelievable luxury only someone in the know would understand.
He fits perfectly at Armani, I feel the same boredom coming from his dresses.Hedi woman is not far from Armani one they even dressed same celebrities and models , the ultra sophisticated woman who is above trends or games will be fine at the Hedi Armani no worries

I think putting the looks side by side is a reach a little bit. You can do it with anybody. Every designer has done a black velvet dress, therefore we can say that everybody can do Armani.yes, to clarify I was speaking about runway, not red carpet. I’ve been reexamining his Celine and YSL since seeing this news.
I can envision a crossover point with some of what was happening at Armani Spring 2016, compared to a look from YSL Spring 2014. But one is almost mystically graceful and the other is about to get blackout for NYE. So I’m not expecting the Armani woman to retain much of her finesse under him. I’m not really saying it’s a bad fit though.

Ive said before on here but not liking Hedi Slimane just means you dont know fashion - cant tell the difference between teal belts and scoff at discussions about fashion thinking theyre somehow excluded from The Hedi Slimane who has been running fashion since the late 90s.
The skinny jeans are a footnote. He switched the look again at SLP and did it again at Celine. If you cant tell the difference its because you do not know fashion. Hedi invented the new quiet luxury everyone is adapting to. Hedi reinvented the business again.
Armani is probably Hedi’s final home. Wonderful news - Hedi is about to decorate my home! Might need to get a condo at the Armani tower in Miami.
I think putting the looks side by side is a reach a little bit. You can do it with anybody. Every designer has done a black velvet dress, therefore we can say that everybody can do Armani.
At this point, Hedi can be the CD of every brand possible (I’m sure his fans would love it) because he is not a very original designer in the first place.
The problem with Hedi is never reallly putting a look side by side. It’s more a question of spirit. He get away with it but it’s the same thing as Dario Vitale for Versace. Is it in the spirit of the house?
The Hedi girl is a groupie. The Armani woman is not. The Hedi boy is a rocker or a young aristocrat. The Armani man is a very sophisticated active man.
The irony is that Hedi himself is maybe more familiar with the Armani lifestyle. But in terms of brand ethos, it would be very sad to see come and impose his vision to brand.
Because he is Hedi Slimane, people will praise him for disrespecting what Mr Armani created. Armani is a culture, a certain idea of luxury, a certain idea of sophistication, a sophistication that doesn’t mind being ostentatious. When we look at where Mr Armani held his Couture shows, it screamed luxury.
I find it a bit sad that even Hedi’s fans doesn’t expect more from him.
If he goes to Armani, hopefully, we will see that. I’ll try to convince myself that he will do for Armani what he didn’t do at Saint Laurent: respect the ethos of the brand.I would be massively disappointed if he were to repeat the grunge-y look we associate with him.
However, I think everybody knows by now that he is great with suiting, a chesterfield coat, a high-waisted pleated trouser.
He should seriously open up to the idea of unstructured tailoring and an idea of outerwear that drapes more like a soft blanked - Something that Armani, Jil Sander and also Agnona are known for.
If he were to loosen up on that part, there would be a whole world opening up to Hedi he hasn't touched upon yet.
