This is a little off topic , but this has been at the back of my mind for a long time. Anyone knows what is the difference between the various colours of HL labels? I have a shirt with a white on white label but I've also seen black on black, white on black and black on white. May be there's more, I'm not too sure.

I honestly think that the labels are just meant to coordinate a bit with the clothes; I have two black HL shirts with black-on-black labels, a black shirt with white detailing that has a white-on-black label, and a white shirt with a white-on-white label.

Hmmm, that doesn't make much sense. I have plenty of HL with black/black labels, and they were neither expensive nor made-to-measure. I'd tend to agree with droogist. His grey/white pieces get the white/white label, the dark pieces get black/black and the sweatshirts get grey ones. That is my observation at least...

HELMUT: By the late '90s, I was thinking, "What else shall I do?" I decided we should do made-to-measure, in order to provide really personal service again. It's a counter-movement to the corporate and marketing elements that are so strong in fashion. A lot of the made-to-measure work is for our Hollywood clients. But it also functions as a design studio. We have the prototypes for the collections there. It's like we've come full circle.

uhhhh...he didn't say lang didn't do made to measure clothes, he was talking about the labels.

I also just spoke to a saleswoman at the flagship store in New York and she told me that the B/W & W/B Labels are the lower priced lines. And the Single colour labels like B/B and W/W are the higher priced line. Couture line has B/B labels and reads 'made to measure' HELMUT LANG NEW YORK

Less than two weeks following the announcement that Prada would close Lang’s historic New York offices, it now appears that Prada Group chief Patrizio Bertelli has put the brand in a holding pattern and, in doing so, has created a state of limbo in its design studio.
Two sources close to Helmut Lang’s recently appointed design team said the designers, hired following Lang’s January departure, were sent home last week and told to wait for further notice. “No one really understands what’s going on with the line,” said one source with close knowledge of Helmut Lang’s design team. “It’s a decision that Bertelli and his men have to make.” Indeed.

The future of Helmut Lang is contingent on if and when the company is sold, and to whom. As reported, Bertelli is said to be in advanced talks with several possible buyers.
The names bidding on Helmut Lang could not be learned, although industry sources believe it’s either Helmut Lang himself or Lang backed by someone else.
“There are a lot of rumors and speculation and Prada does not comment on speculation,” said a Prada Group spokesman.

Luxury goods house Prada is in discussions over a sale of its Helmut Lang label, according to The Times newspaper.

Milan, Italy-based Prada is said to be holding talks with potential bidders including the Tommy Hilfiger and Diesel fashion companies over a possible sale of the brand, which is suggested to be worth up to €100 million.

Prada bought founder Helmut Lang’s 49 per cent stake in the label when he quit three months ago after an alleged feud with chief executive Patrizio Bertelli over the business’s future.

Helmut Lang has reported sales slumps since its acquisition by Prada in 1999.

Hmm, and why not? I guess it's a natural move after having all the money in the world to move into something "higher" . It's a natural progresson, first the money, then the aristocracy, whatever that is in fashion. At least he's buying all the right brands.

i dont trust diesel following the way MMM is moving on faust, i really dont trust jeans companies, not at all
