Hermès S/S 2009 : Angela Lindvall by Darius Khondji

Could there be anything LESS "native American" than seeing Angela Lindvall riding a magic carpet? Sure, the white horse is symbolic, but a magic carpet? Just add the Genie and Jafar and you have a sequel for "Aladdin". :p

a FLYING HERMES SCARF???

what white horses were the creative people behind this riding?

oh no a magic carpet?? the other ads look nice though...

i think the newest image had a good concept, but was just executed a little poorly..it's actually kind of funny more than fashionable

i guess their inspiration is disney's blockbuster, after she looks like pocahontas, and now magic carpet, what's next? little mermaid or hunchback of notre damme??

since the collection was very North America tinged, native American really is their best way to present the pieces in an ad campaign. they rode horses extensively, so it's a perfect tie for Hermes. i still wonder tho why they didn't use a girl who looks more exotic. after Lakshmi & Mariacarla, Angela really looks quite unexotic. pretty, absolutely, but not exotic, which is what i would have expected.

Agreed. I suspect they felt Angela might relate to patrons better.

Stunningly gorgeous advertising campaign from a company that never seem to fail lately.
