To each his/her own, but I think that the Gucci watch is pretty ugly and tacky. Plus it's been knocked off to death and it's pretty common.
no offence to our boys here :flower: but.. i'm with chick, even though i didn't mind it when first came out by now its too common and copied :ninja:

i went to check it out yesturday......it didnt look so worth the price tag

and i dont get how the glass is 'saffire'

By the time that I bought it, it was when It was launched, it was the umph by that time, and I totally understand. I just like the simplicity of the watch... :flower:

I also want to add that my first reaction was a bit too much for what I felt about the watch, "hideous" is a real strong word in my vocabulary ;) , hope I didnt offended anyone :flower:

I just don't like the line of the watch- it's brutal to my eye, just my opinion....

Hermes is working the trashy look with the tongue-in-cheek cheapo looking watch that actually costs more than some earn in a year. Didn't think they'd stoop that low...

Trashy? Hermes is probably the farthest thing away from trashy. I think the Dressage watch is very, very old money--much in the tradition of Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Ulysse-Nardin, and other classic, expensive watch specialists. I'd say the Gucci watch posted is far trashier than the Hermes.

ditto chick :flower:

Can we get away from this 'old money' thing? It was a word used by snobbish European aristocrats in the early 1900's to describe the industrialists mainly.

Who cares what tradition the watch is made in? It looks brutal, heavy and slightly tacky (gold tone on brown croc  )....

its is not a matter of 'old money' here Prince, Hermes has a tradition in quality watches as a fact, i can't see them as "trashy" more like 'classic'.

I can understand that someone may not like the design, but the tag  'trashy' this i really dont agree with, sorry :P

It's to do with the design...that design screams "Look, I cost money" in a way that fake Rolexes you see in Chinese markets normally do...

Chanel Montres Chocolat say "I cost money but I'm not trashy"

It's hard to explain but to me the Dressage is the chronological equivalent of this website:

So that £1000 Bobby Trendy voucher I bought you for Christmas won't go amiss then?

 no, you can take it back and get yourself 2 Hermes scarves instead (or a jardinM) :P

I don't think we can get away from the 'old money' thing, actually. I think the fashion pendulum always swings between tarty, trashy Paris Hilton logorama and reserved, "old money" Jackie O sophistication. Every season, we see a shift between these two things. ALWAYS. Fashion people have a long love affair with the priveleged woman, and aristocratic money, in general. It's a fantasy of the rich b*tch who can afford anything and everything. Look at Chanel season after season. Look at Galliano for fall. Look at Valentino. It's always there.

As for the watch, dear Prince, it will indeed come in different tones of gold and with different color straps. Can you honestly say you wouldn't adore this watch if it were white gold with a polished red croc strap?! :woot:

I think I'll just buy myself a petite jardin en mediterrenean and give the watch a miss:

Keep the $23,000 change as well.... :innocent:

as everyone else who said HERMES is NOT trashy i AGREE 100% :flower:
walk into an HERMES STORE and you will feel class, walk into DIOr and you will feel trashy (no offense to anyone, but you see the difference) :P
as for this watch, i love it because it IS simple. at least that is what I consider simple.
