To each his/her own, but I think that the Gucci watch is pretty ugly and tacky. Plus it's been knocked off to death and it's pretty common.
but.. i'm with chick, even though i didn't mind it when first came out by now its too common and copied

By the time that I bought it, it was when It was launched, it was the umph by that time, and I totally understand. I just like the simplicity of the watch...Originally posted by Lena@Dec 5th, 2003 - 4:27 am

Trashy?Originally posted by Lorna@Dec 7th, 2003 - 4:17 pm
Hermes is working the trashy look with the tongue-in-cheek cheapo looking watch that actually costs more than some earn in a year. Didn't think they'd stoop that low...
Hermes is probably the farthest thing away from trashy. I think the Dressage watch is very, very old money--much in the tradition of Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Ulysse-Nardin, and other classic, expensive watch specialists. I'd say the Gucci watch posted is far trashier than the Hermes.ditto chickOriginally posted by chickonspeed@Dec 7th, 2003 - 11:28 pm

'trashy' this i really dont agree with, sorry
I don't think we can get away from the 'old money' thing, actually. I think the fashion pendulum always swings between tarty, trashy Paris Hilton logorama and reserved, "old money" Jackie O sophistication. Every season, we see a shift between these two things. ALWAYS. Fashion people have a long love affair with the priveleged woman, and aristocratic money, in general. It's a fantasy of the rich b*tch who can afford anything and everything. Look at Chanel season after season. Look at Galliano for fall. Look at Valentino. It's always there.Originally posted by PrinceOfCats@Dec 7th, 2003 - 4:48 pm
Can we get away from this 'old money' thing? It was a word used by snobbish European aristocrats in the early 1900's to describe the industrialists mainly.
Who cares what tradition the watch is made in? It looks brutal, heavy and slightly tacky (gold tone on brown croc)....

at least that is what I consider simple.
