I think it's weird. It's so private, whether your a virgin or not. It's bizarre actually.
I agree with you. Although I bought the magazine today and read the interview and in the context of the article it's less...invasive seeming somehow. It's just that her mom starts out by saying that Hilary is a very chaste girl. It's almost like Hilary is backing her mother up. But she never says that she's actually waiting for marriage, it's more like she says, I haven't had sex...
yet.
I always thought that if I were a young star, and was asked about my virginity I would say that "Of course I'm a virgin!" (even though it would be a terrible lie

) not because I wanted to decieve my fans but because I'd think about how my ENTIRE family would be reading the article (mom, brother, grandmother, uncles, cousins, etc.) and I wouldn't want them to know about my sex life. In fact, if I were to (for some reason) become famous NOW, even at 21, I'd probably say something about being a virgin for that reason. Then I imagine being 18, and being interviewed by some magazine's pushy reporter asking me about sex and having my MOM in the SAME ROOM listening in (just like Hilary's was in this interview) and OF COURSE I'm going to lie about it...because who really wants to have that discussion with their parents???
But what is COMPLETELY weird to me in this article is that when talking about how her body has changed
her mom says, "Of course her body has changed. When she stared Lizzie McGuire, I don't think she'd even had her period back then,"
If my mother ever talked about my period to a national magazine I would be
mortified.Talk about way too much information!!!!
But the photoshoot is BEAUTIFUL, and I love the clothes. Hilary looks amazing and the article, while only two pages, is pretty good.
