The other day I took a pair of jeans and a xacto knife to them the result was really cool. Got some professional looking holes in them as you would see at AE and A&F. Im just stuck on design methods and the xacto knife takes quite awhile.. ANyone have any tips for me in coming up with designs , also other then just the threads shwoing? Thanks

Sorry I can't help, I feel I look more professional without holes in my clothes (unless they are laser-cut), but I'm old-fashioned that way :p ;)

Here's a tip for you, grasshopper:

During your first day on a new forum, avoid calling long-time members idiots. It tends to give people a bad impression of you.

Good advice Tangerine! lol.. and on the world of internet forums, smiley faces don't make everything magically ok =)

lol ok im sorry no harm intended but why even post on the thread if your to no help..

I feel denim is moving towards cleaner and minimal washes. But thats just me:D . Lots of people are showing raw denim this season.

There is no question that America's favorite material is denim. Everything from jeans and jackets and shirts... all commonplace in both genders. It's also gone on to bags/totes, hats, dress/career clothes, and even some shoes and sandals. In terms of ripped and torn jeans, I'm not too fond. The only divisions in pants and jeans that I like are basically on the sides. Some dealers like Newport News ( http://www.newport-news.com ) features some pants with split legs. They can either be on the outside parts of the pants, front splits, or even splits in the back.

This deal with torn and ripped jeans is something I don't really like, maybe since I'm not a rock person. The deal about aggressive and trashy looks don't really attract me. I think if you're going to mess up jeans, I do think the dusty look is nice, granted you have something Natural or Camel in color to compliment it. Or has that trend passed on to a better place like Vanilla Ice's rap career?

lol can i get someone who can atleast just give me soem tips and what not pleasE?

Designs as far as holes go?

I would first draw out what you want with a pen.

I've never been allowed to have pants with holes.

Yeah thats a good idea , but i nee dliek ideas on how to makr the holes..

A lot of my jeans have holes in them....but they came about the hard way.

A razorblade or scissors are the most direct ways to make holes in your jeans, though you could stick a stiff wire brush on a Dremel rotary cutter, stretch the fabric taut, and grind holes in it.

Why am I telling people how to ruin their jeans? I have no idea, but if you want wrecked-up jeans, you could take a job at FedEx as a "package handler" and load trucks all night long. Pretty soon your jeans would look like they'd been run through a food processor. Ask my husband about this.

For your viewing pleasure, here are some repairs I've made to my husband's shredded work jeans:

Example 1
Example 2
Example 3
Example 4
Example 5

These were some big, gnarly holes that took a lot of patching and patience. These are also not jeans my husband wears anywhere that he wants to look especially suave and put-together.

Well thanks , but this is the style i want! Ima try what both of u said , and pix of the effect with chees grader?

ill take a pic today of some jeans i did that to, ill post them in the afternoon

Now *that* is a fabulous idea--what could produce a more professional hole than actual work, I ask you.

Btw, it looks like some of the more "interesting" portions of this thread have been deleted ... ;)
