Holes in Jeans with threads showing

I think you could get a great effect by throwing it into a pack of wolves, or dogs to attack it. For the "natural" effect.

i for one fully support jeans with holes in them. screw denim snobbery and dark-wash-holeless-straight-leg elitism!! holey trashed out jeans are my favorite kind to wear!!

cheesegrater is my weapon of choice 4 sureee

I'll keep my hole-free jeans, please. But if you're determined to get this particular look, superbeautiful's method sounds effective. I hear cats do the trick, too.

i thought this trend already died
anyway i used to make holes using sandpaper
knives are quicker

I think holes in jeans are fun only when they came to be from actual wear. I've had one pair that (after a long time of wear) split across the knees in that sort of early 90's rocker kind of way.

Too bad my jeans always brake first in the back, and that's not nice at all.. :)

You'd have to be careful to get the "right" dogs ... mine would probably just drool on them at most :p

I'd forgotten about this thread ... good times, good times ;)

 let it never be said there aren't any snobs here on tfs.

cheese grater and/or sandpaper is the route i took when i was into this look. of course, being clumsy and always finding some way to skid on your knees across gravel is also an effective method, but not the one i would recommend :flower: (my poor legs would also not recommend this)

Exactly, I have one pair of jeans that fit perfectly and because I wore them so much they split across the knee. I will not give them up, however, and during cold months I wear a pair of black tights underneath them.

I only had one pair of jeans with holes. They came about naturally and i didn't wear them past the age of 20.

also try razor blades for the holes w/ threads showing effect.

anyway, i did have a few pairs that ripped in the knees first, a lot of them because of falls/skids, but the ones that ripped due to use usually blow out the seats a few months later which isn't as cute, fun or comfortable when the stitching of the repair or the scrap rubs on you the wrong way....

i'm of the opinion that holes in your jeans should come from regular use and multiple washings...but as everyone else has pointed out, if you're looking to "age" your jeans, a cheesegrater works best for the knees, while sandpaper is better to fray up the hem. my suggestion would be to work the grater or sandpaper on the inside of the jean to make it look more "natural". also, depending on the weight of the fabric, you might have more work cut out for you (8 or 10 oz. is less of a headache to beat up).

to half of the people that posted in this thread, possibly. i'd hate to ask a question and, instead of answers, be met mostly with people looking down on what i was asking about. it's irrelevant to the question whether the trend is "so over" or if someone else finds holes in their jeans unsightly. but maybe that's just me.
