How do you organize your closet?

My closet in the apartment is nothing special..standard sliding door closet..but it is organized(until I mess it up probably in a week) in types of clothes and alike colors by each other of the type....

But what I adore is my closet in my boyfriends...

walk-in1.jpg

This is the exact closet type except we have frosted glass on all bigger compartments where all the clothes on hangers go. And we have a middle island with lotsa drawers for underwear(mostly mine I am lingerie girl) and jewelry(most his he has a crazy watch collection)..

Our shoes are in a seperate place....he has a closet of his shoes, where I just threw my shoes in to the nooks and crannies... :ninja: ...I'm gonna be dead in a few days because I messed up his shoe closet... he's such a neat freak when it comes to the closet.. But a girls gotta have a place for her shoes

do you two both live in LA...the only reason i ask is that your closets are the size of a large studio apt in NYC...no one has that kind of space...well, almost no one... :innocent:

My family does have a house in L.A. but I was talking about my family's house in Paris which is where we live! You have to live on Park Ave or in the Trump Tower or someplace in NY to have a large closet! lol

you live in paris....FINALLY! ...we have someone from paris...are you french?...

yeah...closet space is pretty rare in NYC...we're just renovating our loft and adding several closets...my boyfriend recently built me my dream closet though...big walk in with fully adjustable shelves and brackets...and a huge mirror with carpeting and a little rolling stepstool...like a little store...i love it sooo much....but it's still not big enough :o crazy... :P

This thread is going to give me sweet dreams and what a change that will make :innocent:
I used to sleep in my wardroom all day long as it could be darker than the holes of hell and long before the sun had set. Now I've no such luck... no such space, but I'm inspired to restore order and find that lost red shoe from my trip to Oz.

Soft Grey your closet sounds really cool! Sounds large for a NYC closet! My grandparents have a house on Park Ave and even their closets aren't HUGE! lol I suppose space is tight in the city! I'll be there tomorrow cause I hafta get this shirt from Urban Outfitters! I'm French and Italian since you were wondering....

How much to all your closets cost?
My wardrobe was over £6000 and I thought that was expensive, I have a feeling its nothing compared to what you all spend.

I absolutely love this thread! I am surprised I missed it all this time. I am so happy to have run into it b/c I was planning on reorganizing my closet this weekend. I was actually inspired by Lucky magazine article in this month's issue.

Since over the years my closet space appeared to have shrunk slowly, I decided to put away my clothes as the season changed. That worked a great deal. I bought one of those vacuum seal plastic thingies and I store them under my bed. They don't take any space. Other than that I have just a standard american house hole agains the wall type of a closet with two Saunders (cheap, cheap :)) armoire like things and a drawer night stand that I keep my undies in. I have been meaning to get the second one to store jewelery in but i have been too lazy. I also want to get those free standing hat hangers and mirrors too.

Soft, your bf is so sweet :) I always dream of marrying a handy man so he can do little project around the house fore me :P

Here is just a preview (NEEDS TO BE ORGANIZED). I am going to start using those hangers with the clips to hang my clothes from.
