How do you organize your closet?

How much to all your closets cost?
My wardrobe was over £6000 and I thought that was expensive, I have a feeling its nothing compared to what you all spend.
I know it's quite pricey to get the built-in cabinets because of installation and everything, but I'm not sure how much cause my parents paid it! But talking about my wardrobe.....sometimes I think I pay too much money on it! :innocent:

Built in cabinets???? Installation?????
I have an armoire. A wardrobe. It cost a lot because I didn't pay for it. My mum bought it, she liked it. But then she bought this antique Oak wardrobe (HUGE) and gave me this one.

hehehe LOL, no worries. the reason i asked is because usually the compartments INSIDE a wardrobe are what makes them super expensive. i.e. customised to your taste and clothes ;)

Compartments? What compartments

Ohhh, I see, I took them out, I need it big so I cant fit long things in. I keep other things in drawers :)
There is one half split where I can keep trousers off hangers etc.

recently i had to move to a new place, my #1 concern was WHERE will all of my clothes, bags, & shoes fit?!!! -- i'm a NEAT FREAK & i have a 2.4x4 meter room that i'm hoping to transform into a walk-in closet, i don't know where to start or what to do...

if you had to design your own walk in closet, what would you be looking for?
do you have a walk-in or reach-in closet already? if yes, are you happy with it? is there anything that you would change? ....& if possible, can we take a look inside your closet? :flower:

Just curious to see what everyone's closets look like. Clean, messy, color coordinated, a haphazard mess? Haha!

Here are some photos of mine:

MY CLOSET RULES
+ All tops on top rack
+ All dresses hung on dress rack
+ All bottoms on bottom rack
+ Shoes and bags on shelves
+ Belts, necklaces on hooks
+ Hats, scarves in clear see-through drawers
+ Tops organized by sleeve length and color
+ Bottoms organized by type and color
+ Dresses organized by length then color
+ Shoes organized by how often worn
+ Bags organized by style and color
+ All hangers must look the same and face the same way.

Yes, I am a bit of a neat freak. I cannot get dressed if nothing in my closet is organized.

ORGANIZE YOUR CLOSET
+ Buy all the same colored hangers (Wal-Mart, Target)
+ Purchase clear see through organizers on wheels (Target) They stack too. Perfect for bulky accessories.
+ Buy little hooks for belts, necklaces, hats, etc... (Hardware store)
+ Make vanilla or lilac or sandalwood scented satchels to put in drawers
+ Put newspapers or old tshirts in bags to keep their shape
+ Clean out closet every 2 months (Donate, throw out)

Oh, BTW, I'm new to the forums, but expect to be seeing a lot of me. :-)

yah...those are the basic rules of any good closet...mine's the same...except i have clip hangers because i dont fold anything over...more creases and wrinkles that way...i keep all my shoes in their original boxes whenever possible to keep them from getting damaged by light and from getting dusty... if i don't have the original box...i put them in a shoe bag or hang them by the heel from another shoe box...all boots are on the bottom shelves...

Beautiful, and good idea's! I wish my closet was like that, but it's so tiny! I have to come up with some creative idea's because my room is tiny, my dresser is tiny and so is my closet. I'm running out of space!

And welcome to the forums! You are adorable too! I love the white top your wearing. :)

Great thread, adorevintage. My closet is long and narrow and crappy. It is original to my house. You gave me some good ideas. Motivation too! I've been putting off tearing it down and re-doing it.

My closet is outrageously messy. I actually have two closets, because the one in my room is relatively small, so I use a seperate one for shoes and accesories. The accesories one is moderately organized, but my clothing one is soooo bad. Before I go away to school I should really clean it up. good topic!

my closet is the size of a shower stall...so i dont have much room. luckily, it's in a room we hardly use (the closet it our bedroom is even smaller so my husband gets that one and i get the other one) so i use the room and have things on shelves and strewn around all over the place...it's a mess. anyway, i don't have 'a lot' of things for a fashionista

I have all my tops on the right side of my closet color cordinated and in shades like light pinks fade into purple.. etc.. then I have almost all my shoes in see through plastic boxes in the top of my closet.. On the left of my closet I have a couple of fur coats in the back and then I have skirts then blazers then jackets and belts and scarfs.. I'm in the middle of finding a way to organize my purses.. hmm I dunno I need to sell a bunch of my clothes and use that money to buy fewer but nicer things..

Your closet is so pretty and organized! My closet is far too small (2' deep by 3 or 4' wide?), as is my room. I hang my bags from my easel for the lack of a better place to put them!

Very organised, and a great topic! :flower:

Seeing as I'm currently in that 2 month stage of clearing out the old, pictures may come later. ;)
