How do you organize your closet?

Bonchic: I think it's fabulous that you keep your shoes in see through containers. I need to do this to keep some of my heels in shape! In Simple Living I read that shoes that are kept in boxes last twice as long because they're not as exposed to the elements. (Although how many of us actually wear the same shoes from years ago? LOL)

Sometimes all you need is a few good shelves and shelf separators to make a closet look tons better.

Oh, does anyone remember Cher Horowitz French cleaner's closet? With the rotating racks? *squeel* THAT is my absolute dream!

OH, to do a REALLY CUTE decorative idea, put your bags on hooks on a wall in your bedroom and arrange in some sort of pattern. Not only is it cute and mod, it also keeps them organized and easy to see :-)

It's really good if you have lots of bright, fun, bags, so it's ART, FASHION, and ORGANIZATION!

actually ...i have quite a number of shoes that i've had for 15-20 years...they are practically new...if you take care of your things... and buy good quality and style...they can last you a lifetime... that's what investment dressing is all about and one of the reasons i stay away from trends...

ps...i would be careful about storing leather shoes in plastic boxes ladies and gents...plastic doesn't breathe very well and could cause your leather shoes to dry out and crack...the original cardboard is actually better if you attach a polaroid of the shoe to the front...they also sell fabric boxes if you are really particular...

I do too - every time I organize mine, it becomes messy the next day it has a mind of its own

picture of my closet - this pic was taken last year... its pretty similar to what i have now.

i donno why the sweaters are not organized by color in this pic, i usually do it.
its tiny bc i lived in a dorm...
what u are seeing is only 1/3-1/4 of my clothes..
the closet was SO tiny that every month or so i had to put stuff away + take stuff out from my suitcases... very annoying.
i cant wait to get a bigger closet

left-top : pants
left-bottom : jackets, skirts
right-top : bags
right-bottom : coats, dresses
middle top : sweaters
in the drawer : tshirts knits tanktops and more more more pants/skirts/sweats

im a neat freak when it comes to organizing clothes...
my tshirts are all rolled up (organized by color, arm length and neck shape) etc.
but when it comes to sth other than clothes, i just get messy (ie my desk)

No digital camera or scanner, so I'll describe.

My closet at my apartment at school is deeply unimpressive... just sliding doors. However, we are missing one roommate, so I ordered a couple of rolling clothing racks from The Container Store and I have a few racks of clothing in the spare bedroom.

At my family's home I have a nice, big walk-in closet.

On the right side is where things are hung... on only wooden hangers, because I'm anal like that. There go my dresses, my jackets, coats, and tops. I also happen to hang my polos.

On the left side are floor to ceiling shelves. On the middle shelves I fold jeans and sweaters, and on the bottom shelves are my shoes. On the very top shelves are all my handbags, in their dustcovers... I really need to take Polaroids of them so I can stop guessing which bag I'm pulling out.

Oh my gosh, I want floor to ceiling shelves!!! My Mother has floor to ceiling cubicles in her closet *me jealous* and built in racks for her shoes *me jealous again*

okay, here we go. i lost the picture of my actual closet, but it is a walk-in... organized by type of item and then color and then shade.

Shoes, shoes, shoes, more shoes:

my dresser drawers and my wardrobe.

Dresser drawers are:
Underthings/Stockings
Exercise pants/sleep pants
Jewelry
Skirts

Wardrobe has on top, scarfs and gloves, fitness shoes and occasionally other shoes. Trousers organized by color and shade, winter coats organized by color and shade, and jeans organized by designer. On the bottom left is my cheerleading duffle (prepacked for easy grabbing) and I shove things under the coats to hide them.
