Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist

I like it well enough, but aren't head over heels for it. I only just applied it, so am yet to discover how the dry down would pan out, but I'm just not that into the opening, unlike say Sarassins. Think I prefer Apres L'Ondee. Besides, iris isn't one of my favourite notes in perfumes, so it could also be down to that.

The dry down was OK. It got warmer with time. Overall, I like it, but don't think I will invest in a bell jar. If they ever release it in a limited edition export bottle, then I'd sure own one.


Today am wearing Serge Lutens De Profundis. Streets ahead of ISM IMHO.

Today am wearing Serge Lutens De Profundis. Streets ahead of ISM IMHO.

I liked this very much. Was lovely till the very end, even if it didn't last very long on me.

Today: Serge Lutens Fourreau Noir.

It smells expensive and sophisticated, if slightly masculine, but like iris, lavender isn't one of my top favourite notes in perfumery, so whilst I quite like it, I don't think I'll be investing in a full-sized bottle.

I have a 1ml sample of 10 of Lutens' s non-export scents, and I want to try them all before I move on to my Ormonde Jayne sample set. I've absolutely loved Sarrasins and La Myrrhe, and to a lesser extent, loved De Profundis as well. ISM and Fourreau Noir are rather lovely and something I'd consider buying if they release it more widely. it's just great that I haven't hated anything so far, but then I'm yet to try Muscs Koublai Khan and Santal de Mysore and Fumerie Turque, and these happen to be particularly divisive scents.

I effing loved the dry-down all right. It was ever so slightly Chergui-esque on me, especially wrt to the sweetness (but sans the smokiness of Chergui), and Chergui's one of my all time favourite scents. Will wear again before deciding whether to buy a full sized bottle or not (probably not, if I find it dangerously similar to Chergui).

Oh dear. This smells like soap on me. And I get a lot of jasmine, albeit it supposed to be a rose fragrance. Bit like A la Nuit, but more soapy. Still, am not writing it off yet. Will see how it evolves over the course of the next few hours.

Oh dear. This smells like soap on me. And I get a lot of jasmine, albeit it supposed to be a rose fragrance. Bit like A la Nuit, but more soapy. Still, am not writing it off yet. Will see how it evolves over the course of the next few hours.

The rose did eventually crawl out of the woodwork, but it did take a while for the soapy beginning to give way to the sublime middle and base notes. The dry down was simply beautiful. Slightly animalistic, which I absolutely loved.

Today: nothing.

Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque.

I smelt like a bloody curry house. It's too strong and lingers for hours on end, and tobacco doesn't agree with my skin. It turns into something truly beautiful in the *** end, as with all other Lutens scents, but it's just not worth spending $140 on for a few fleeting hours. It's a shame, because it'd got glowing reviews on makeupalley, basenotes, thenonblonde etc and I was almost about to buy it blind.

Still, I like it more than Tobacco Vanille. At least the Lutens scents evolve over the course of the day. TV is excruciatingly linear on my skin, and smells the same all along.

Chene for me is a well blend of Chypre Rouge and Arabie. Obviously, Monsieur Lutens's so fascinated with this kind of creations.

Today, Attrape Coeur, a typical vintage Guerlain with a hint of gourmand.

Smells very plasticky and synthetic and rubbery on me. That's the second Kilian scent to disappoint, the first being Prelude to Love.
