How Do You Smell Today?

Anyway, today am planning to Wear Hermes's Ambre Narguile.

It was quite nice. Though I think I still prefer Shalimar or Ambre Sultan .

Besides, this is yet another scent not available in the US. Oh well.

Today am wearing Chanel Bois des Iles EDT.

Best blind buy ever, second only to Chergui.

^ WHAT?! There is a fragrance we both like? :flower: (Chergui)

Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist

Tom Ford Azure Lime

The lime doesn't last long enough for my liking, and the azure it leaves behind doesn't move me.

Lol. Chergui was a blind buy. There was a sale of some sorts on feeluique.com last year when when they were offering Lutens scents for £50. Bit of a snip, seeing how one can't find it for under $100 elsewhere.

Like I said, best blind buy ever.

Speaking of blind buys, another blind which I really ended up loving is Montale Aoud Red Flowers, which, incidentally, I happened to wear today. Montale make the best oud based scents in the market. I've tried the Kilian range (and owned a 100ml refill of Rose Oud which I eBayed off recently), but Montale wipes the floor with Kilian. Kilian's Arabian Nights line was a bit of a disappointment to me, as those scents ended up smelling plasticky and synthetic on me.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Lumiere Noire Pour Femme

I wasn't terribly impressed with the initial 15 mins - it smelt a tad sour on my skin - but boy afterwards it's simply magical.

I ordered 6 of the female scents in this line directly from the website (16 ml of fragrance costs about €25, which is very reasonable, IMO, especially given shipping from France to California is absolutely free!), and can't wait to try out APOM pour femme and the newest offering - Oud.

L'Artisan Parfumeur Mimosa Pour Moi

It's a lovely, delicate and pretty floral, but rather boring. After having dabbled with highly singular florals flaunting stonking good nuances, this seems a little tame in comparison. It's pretty enough and pleasant enough, but just not particularly memorable or individualistic.

Sandalo and Marescialla plus Peau d'Espagne all by Santa Maria Novella, dry, resinous, cardamon and dry.........

Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist

Try as hard as I can, I just can't bring myself to like this. And this is one scent I really want to like. The name is just so beautiful and the idea of this ghostly, otherworldly, sublimely beautiful scent is so darn appealing in theory, but on my skin it smells medicinal and strident. Iris is one note tat just doesn't work with my skin chemistry, and ISM is iris X 10000000.

Shame.

^sorry, you know I love that one!

L'Artisan Parfumeur Timbuktu

Classic Duchaufour, one of my favorites of his that I've tried.

More cloyingly fruity than leathery. Another miss.
