How many films from the iMDb top 250 have you seen?

^Bianca I have no idea either, maybe we can just discuss the list and its films here since there are too many to go through.

I still haven't seen the number one movie (shawshank redemption).

I took a film class for one of my fine arts requirements, so I saw a lot of films there that I would never have watched.
Like Roshomon (loved it) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (hate it with a passion).

I thought '2001: A Space Odyssey' was visually stunning and I've always liked Kubricks style of directing but that's about it. It was so boring and drawn out, I got what it meant but I still didn't like it.

Since a lot of us aren't too happy with some of the films that have made this list, maybe we could do something slightly different, in where we each nominate 5 (or however many, depending on numbers) films that we recommend everyone should watch, and then create a list from those.

IDK :P

Or maybe pick some other movie list. One that is more fixed and doesn't change at whip. This ones is exessive and most seem to be ancient movies, but there is bound to be more lists somewhere:

Although nominating movies sounds easier than watching 1000 movies, those would probably be 3 months of my life I'd want back.

62 :ninja: I honestly thought my number would be higher.

But if it helps, a lot of the movies on the list I tried watching but couldn't finish halfway through.

I think this list might be better than the NY Times one, they update it every year and it has a good mix of mainstream and lesser known movies: http://www.icheckmovies.com/list/1001+movies+you+must+see+before+you+die

This is another one:

thank god i dont have the lowest number
21 for me :ermm:
a lot of those movies arent the kind of ones i would normally watch :ermm:
but im glad i saw a few oldies

54 - I'd say about 3/4 of those were movies that had been made before the '90s. I don't watch a lot of new cinema, mostly because I expect to be disappointed and/or bored. My goal is to be the last man on Earth not to have seen Avatar in any way, shape or form.

32 It helps that I have watched a lot of Pixar Movies. :P
So glad to see Terminator 2: Judgment Day there, it´s my favorite movie of all times. :mohawk:

Question for the people who've seen only around 10% or less of the movies on the list: what's the reason? Are you really young? Do you not like watching movies? Do you not watch Hollywood movies? Or are you one of those who'd rather go see the new Katherine Heigl rom-com on its opening day rather than seeing a new movie by say Martin Scorsese? :innocent:

I like watching movies, but mostly less known ones and foreigns. Also, there's a lot of films that i think should get better rating on IMDB, maybe i just have an odd taste. I have most of these films on dvds but i haven't got the time to watch them (i have 40 unwatched dvds :P ). example : Synecdoche New York is not on the list eventhou it's considered as the best film from the last decade by Roger Ebert (and me, obviously). :D

41 titles

I don't watch too many movies. But I'm starting to do it lately. I have a 50 movie contest on my own for summer and i've already watched 4 movies.

73 but I'm suprised that many of them are on that list. :ninja:

171. A work in progress. I love movies...just have to find the time to fit them in.!:P

200. The movies that I didn't see are mostly the Japanese and the old ones.

ooh fun!

97 for me ...although, really i felt like adding some movies (like Rocky for example) that I haven't actually sat through and watched beginning to end ...but i feel like i've seen since they used to replay those types of movies endlessly on sunday afternoons when i was a kid and i'd watch at whatever point i happened upon...
