How much do you spend on clothes?

Not so much nowadays. I live in Salzburg where there is limited shopping.
But when I do shop, I mostly buy seasonal items and basics from the high street.
As for designer clothes, it probably makes up 10% of my wardrobe, i buy them during the sales.
I spend roughly 200 - 500 euros a month on clothes and I save if i want to get bigger purchases

i'm really cheap, about 80% of my wardrobe are second hand finds, 1-5 [rarely>10]euro per piece, except underwear, socks, accessoires, some tops and few pairs of right fitting jeans,... so my most expensive clothes are the ski jacket & pants

I'm, too, a poor student and honestly I barely work to earn money, as my studies take me a lot of time and my parents can afford to give some extra cash...so the money I spend on clothes depends on a lot of things (time, money, mood of the day, money on my bank account etc.)
but honestly I would never spend more than 500€ on an unique item (with a student status)!!! and I even think that the most expensive things I bought was at a Jean Paul Gaultier sales like 5-6yrs ago (but i was in a crisis : heartbreak, family problems etc.) and I think it was around 8000francs (around 1200€). but then when you know that some people earn that in a month, i felt really bad

.... Now that I'm more mature and more responsible with money, too (I spend most of my time far away from my parents, as I don't study in Paris)...I don't spend that much money.

Most of my outfits come from cheap stores (H&M, Zara etc.) or second hand shops ("friperies" and vintage shops), where i always find my hapiness.
but i can say that money never make hapiness (even if it helps a lot!) because one of my friend bought last year a Balenciaga bag (for men) and now the bag looks like sh*t because the quality was bad. you see! no need to spend 1000€ on a bag if this one dosn't last more than 2yrs!

I feel like I spend way too much buying a lot of cheap things actually, and I need refocus and buy things I really love. Right now I just buy things sporadically, and I never really wear them, or they're just boring. I buy a lot from places like H&M, but in terms of things like jeans, I usually prefer desginer, just because I wear them often.

I mostly shop in Topshop, Oasis and Warehouse, with a few bits from Primark, but Jeans I spend more on as I wear them so much, my faves being Seven for all Mankind and Rock and Republic.

I also love LV and Gucci handbags, and spend a lot on expensive skincare and makeup.

But I think I have the balance right between expensive and high street, and even if I could afford designer everything, i could never give up my Topshop addiction

Ive seen your outfits susie_bubble and you always wear something designer or 'one off' in them.. how do yo do it looking fab. and still keep a tight budget?

If i wear many designer pieces all at once.. I feeel 'wrong' in a way, even if it does not have a visible logo! as i don't wear that.

My new years resolution [well, one of them] is to buy quality over quantity. I have about £200 a month to spend on clothes and for a shopaholic like me that doesnt seem to be quite enough. I try to clear out my wardrobe once a month or more and there are so many clothes I simply do not wear and never have worn! I need to start buying quality classics that will last a long time.

I think half of my problem is that I flirt with so many styles. I havent quite found my own personal style just yet so I experiment a lot which tends to cost money

I actually that helps my outfits a bit if I have something that is a little bit more special. Not that I'm saying designer/"one-off" is the way to go but just anything that isn't really generic looking. I think wearing vintage has the same effect.
With the budget thing, I'm quite thrifty even when it comes to buying more expensive things. I might put aside say £50 a month for four months to save up for something nice. Or I buy things on sale, in sample sales, in design consignment stores....
Most of the time, I try to hunt for things on the high street that stand out a bit or are have surprisingly good quality. And to really save, I also go to jumble sales, charity shops and vintage stores for cheap fixes.

well you look great doing it.. i guess you must really love shopping and to go all over to find that 'one off' item.. i just don't have time to do that, and I'm very envious on you.. as i love the exclusive feeling you get of having something no-one else have.

I recently had clothes mostly from Banana Republic, Zara, and random items from Macy's.

But a couple months ago, I was helping my Grandmother move from her apartment and I was helping her clean out her closet. She had literally hundreds on designer clothes ranging from vintage fendi, chanel, gucci and many more. My grandmother caught me glazing at her clothes and she told me "You see that top in your hands? I've had it for over 40 years and it's still in the shape from when I first bought it."

Ever since then, my price range increased for clothes instantly from $100-$200 a month to $400-$600 a month. I started to buy high end designer clothes in hope to once have a wordrobe like my grandmothers.

Ditto, being a college student I have to watch my budget, but at the same time I know I'm spending a little more than I probably should I only buy jeans from American Eagle because they fit me so well, but aside from that one store I actually hardly spend any money in the mall anymore. Occasionally I'll pick something up from forever21, but I've gotten really picky lately, the quality has to be decent. My favorite store at the moment is ebay, though I wish I had the time to go to vintage and thrift shops.
