I know this is a very old article and it's about getting invited in New York fashion shows (week) but here ya go:

also, i think if you are a V.I.P. customer of a certain brand, they'll send you an invite.

Before I went to France last year, I e-mailed both Dior and Chanel regarding getting seats to the couture shows in July.

Both responded that you have to be a member of the press, a buyer, or invited in order to get in. You can't really buy a seat either. Unfortunately, they don't let plebs like me in. :(

Keep in mind, though, that the venues can be small; they need to let those who need to see it in (especially media and buyers). They just don't have room for outsiders to come in and watch. It would have been nice, though.

oh. haha. I agree with flightychild. They would really let in first the persons that can help advertise their stuff. (or something like that) like the media, photographers, other designers and celebrities.

:(

well when Fashion week comes up in September lets all go together dress in heels and dresses and put on an act

I've only been to Paris, but I met a few fashion students at the shows, so maybe that would be an opportunity for you to explore. The basics are that you need to be of some use to the brand to be let in, either press, buyer or celeb. And the men's shows are a lot easier to get in to than the women's shows, with Dior Homme as the only real exception.

But really, seing a fashion show live ain't much. It's a lot of waiting and after ages you only get a very quick glance at the clothes. If you're in it for the clothes you might as well look at the pictures and videos posted here. If it clothes you want the showrooms are a lot better (and easier to get in to if you don't mind a bit of acting).

But if you're into trainspotting celebs you might be in for a treat...
