requesting invites to shows...

ah. labor day...that does make sense.

thanks lostinnj and softgrey...my nerves are as calmed as possible, given what a hectic experience i assume fashion week will be...

yea sounds like its gonna be crazy. Ok a few questions of my own, what if you missed a call and you dont know ur seating arrangement? They can tell you at the show right? also do I have to cross my legs at the show? I have trouble doing that for I am not a size 0 hahahah! Also who is that photographer that says "OKAY Ladies uncross your legs" at the end of the show? I think i might scream that out!

The problem with the Spring/Summer shows is Labor Day...People leave work early, the post office is closed...It becomes a big mess...I myself am waiting on some invites for some major shows.
totally...
but everyone is in the same boat...:D

yay! KCD ppl are nice now :) I called them and they told me everything! woot!

ok I got invites from most PR's but like....i forgot to ask for Proenza! and Ralph Lauren! ugh :( by the time i did, they were closed *sigh* anyways I thought i would have better seating at Herrera...im like in the 6th row and stuff! ICK!! oh well :)

^ probably because you're working for a starting and yet unkown magazine? I think it's not realistic to expect sitting front row next to Anna Wintour

i know ur right lol........im too ambitious! hahah  I wanted to talk to anna! Im the next andre leon talley!!

^ what do you want to say to Anna then, if you can talk to her? She'll probably just say 'get out of my way'

I want to be like: "Anna OMG I love you! blah blah can I work at Vogue as your assistant? blah blah...since Andrea quit and Emily has a broken leg I would be a good assistant...blah blah"

Jared, what did you say in your PR ticket requests to get all those invites and good seats? I'm confused. You've done a great job setting up a nice schedule for yourself this season...and with a yet to be published magazine? Wow. You'll have to tell me more about the mag. PM me if you don't want to answer this on the thread ;)

Very true, as sometimes stylists who have been working for years aren't even seated at shows...or sometimes even denied.

My EIC tells me that if you are patient, and get there way in advance, and ask to be let in even if you're not on the list, or make nice with someone who is invited, you can get in. (she lucked out a LOT last year...even got carolina herrera 2nd row, though I wouldn't even aim that high...I just want to go to a show like Alice Ritter or Sari Gueron if my name is not on the list...in which case I'll cry but anyway)...

Realistic? or No? I would not try this at Calvin Klein or any of the big names...but I may for Araks, or Chaiken or something. What do those of you who have done the fashion week thing think?

and...do you have a better chance of being let in when you're not on the list and they don't know who you are vs. if they know you (a stylist that has been working in the industry for years, as lostinnj said)

well if ur really nice i guess they would probably either 1) put u in standing or 2) put u in a seat for someone who didnt RSVP or cancelled. I guess those are the only things they could do cuz i know PR Consulting told me the Proenza show was beyond the normal capacity she was like "WE ARE JAMMED PACK!!!" (very dramatic) but I guess u can always sneak in?

I guess its easier to get in last minute if u worked with that PR/designer b4, but then again im not sure if the ppl who actually work in the PR office will be there. They may just have normal workers doing the list, not knowing who u really are unless ur Anna or Andre....

what about LA fashion week, & do any of you plan to attend WFW (world fashion week) in december?

I'm going to Patrik Rzempski and Lela Rose (my daily contact there is doing the seating so I'll probably have a good seat) and then also to a breakfast at Koi thrown by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce for Spanish Designers (Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Camper, Custo Barcelona, Jaime Mascaro' and Tous).

My boss is the buyer for Chado at one of it's biggest retailers and he just got his invite today.
