this isnt political. :flower:

i have a few good fur pieces from my grandmother that i feel are finally ready to 'come out' for me to wear. ive had them for quite some time, but never felt like the time was right .

so for those who wear fur, i have a silver fox stole that ties ( kind of ysl -ish from few seasons ago) what should i wear it with? i have dresses etc, but i dont want to look too formal or dressed up. i kind of want to play it down ( for this occasion at least)

any suggestions? :flower:

I dunno why but I think that a Diane Von Furstenberg-y (printed) dress (in b/w) may work just perfectly with the silver fox fur ... or maybe a deep-red-coloured dress (but its a bit tricky).

maybe a collarless jacket or cardigan in red with a jewel neck black tight tee underneath? You could just button or hook the jacket or cardigan right under the bust. Then you could wear dark jeans and black boots or black pants/skirt and black heels.

Another pretty look would be a baby blue or robins egg blue cardigan buttoned up and a black/white/gray tweed pencil skirt.

This topic is timely for me, as I just bought a cropped beige rabbit fur jacket... I have never owned real fur, and it's all rather overwhelming...

It depends on the occasion though... formal, or smart casual etc.?

i was thinking along similar lines.......maybe a small fitted collarless
leather jacket , T, and skirt. or maybe with jeans/ t shirt ....

im thinking informal nights....concerts/clubs/chillin' B) i just dont want to look
too dressed up.....the stole is pretty big

thanks for the suggestions ! i will be playing around with possibilities soon.

saturnine your jacket sounds cool!

i think the best way to wear fur is to mix elements of dressed up and cassual. like jeans , pumps, t shirt and a stole, or may be a cocktail dress and boots and a jacket.

exactly, space  i just dont want to channel 'material girl' :yuk:
im always that mixed appeal.....my sequined dress w/ my retro nikes!

i think im on the look out for some simple beat up jeans , tight T, maybe my hair worn back.....

i would wear with skirt/ boots combo but i dont want to look like im going on an expedition. and with stilleto boots i certainly dont want the 'bling bling' , but i think lolita/bling bling combo is impossible

it looks like this only white :woot:

Beat up jeans tight tee and hair worn back sounds like a good combo to go with the stole, i think that'd look great for a mixed up casual look. Right now is a great time for fur so a good time to experiment, that stole you pictures is beautiful i like it a lot!

I have a cute mink stole that i like very much, I'm not sure what to team it with either though :S I'll have a play around and see what i can do that seems to work the best for me. :flower:

I wear my furs with jeans.... I probably will with trousers, too, this season... but it's always been jeans. =)

i am not trying to be political, but wearing a dead animal looks tacky. nothing to do with peta, same opinion on faux.

jeans + tee sounds just perfect .. please do post pics when done!

PS Can't do wrong with your hair back on ponytail! Excellent idea!

EEEEEEE I'm wearing a fur coat today :bounce: (I'm indoors-the only reason why Im not melting in a coat in Cali:P)

Might give you some ideas if I share what I wear :flower:

Hair in a pompadour with skull pin on the hair tie
ripped up jean mini
white pink panther cartoon shirt
pink tights
black pumps
LAMB baby barrel bag

:stuart: Its just casual cool...

I like fur....I want a stole, but cant find one

I'm obsessed with fur... I'll only buy vintage though...

I think you could def pair that kind of stole (gorgeous btw, loove the bow) with some jeans and a funky top. Maybe some big sunglasses (even at night).

Go rockstar with it. Better to go all the way you know!

sounds cute sephoraS :P

im an indoor girl myself.....what a laugh- thinking about us trying on furs!!!! in this HOT LA weather!! blast that AC baby ....

anyway...sephora, if you want a stole cruise the vintage shops. i got mine from my grandmother ( Cruella deVille ) and just added the bow. ( i also have a llama stole that i bought for $5 i used to use it as a scarf in cold weather. but thats more hippy than glam. i have 2 minks as well.... but those once were attached on coats....i wrap them as scarf when im in nyc during cold days.
even go to thrift shops and buy an ugly coat then rip off the collar !

i must admit im thinking of purchasing a white rabbit coat ....... :innocent:

....i discoverd it looks great with this black coat have! aww why cant we have winter in LA??

For 'tips' on wearing fur try here.... tips - this is good

This is something that I would love to own (but it costs like $2400) ...

I do own a couple of furs though. My latest purchase was a rabbit coat, similar to this one (but without the J things on the front)..

I must admit nothing quite feels the same as wearing a fur jacket!

I like this topic :flower:

I have a fur...uhm 'thing', that belonged to my grandmother. I have never worn it because I don't know what to pair it with, or what occasion to wear it to...

Any tips??

Here's what it looks like:

It's sort of a short boxy jacket, with one fastening on the top. Have no idea what type of fur it is...

Well I wear my fur items with almost anything.

My fur collared Cavalli blazer is usually worn with jeans becuase its more casual. I think jeans and fur go great together.

There is also the option of wearing tweed with your fur.

Whatever you do, do not wear sandals with your fur. I see that sometimes and it makes me cringe :yuk:

I find it looks best with a pair of pointy boots with or without heals. If you decide to wear it with a dress you may want to wear stockings. Bare legs with fur seems odd.

Always remember to wear it in season. There is nothing worst than seeing someone wear fur in August.

I start wearing min Mid October to February.

all my fur is vintage...
i can't decide if i need to alter my long mink to make it more modern...
i do think that it's easier to wear a short fur than a full length one...
but....
i kind of don't want to be one of those girls who runs around in jeans that cost $300 and a mink jacket with crazy expensive designer bag and shoes...

i'd almost rather wear the thing full length and save it for evenings out and really cold winter days...
like a lady, you know?
:ermm:...

hmmm...

Hi

I have a mix of vintage and new fur... although most of my new fur is in accessories... at the same time i'd never wear faux and due to cost I tend to stick to vintage as you can get superb value for money... however I would die and go to heaven if I could afford some of the modern furs as some of the new styling and shapes are just so lush and to die for... especially in russian sable!

Im not sure there is anything wrong with being those girls... but i'd look into how much it would actually cost to get it properly altered... as I think for what you would pay to get it well done... you'd be far better spending that money on a another short mink or fox etc... and keeping your long mink for like you say the more dressy occassions...

Just my initial thoughts anyway... although have you any ideas for the alteration? Have you had costings or a design done?

Why not post a pic so we all have a better idea.

God its great to be back on here... its been so long since i've had the chance to be on here as work and home life has been hectic!
