Yesterday I went to the salon without a clear idea of what I wanted, so I just told my stylist to give me a medium length cut. I also told her no new layers b/c I'm trying to grow my layers out.
Well, it's now very clear to me that my *thick* hair DOES need layers. My hair doesn't necessarily look bad, but the hair tips do look a bit too blunt, thick, and severe for my taste. I guess I should've learned more about my hair type & what cuts suit it best, huh? I'm so doing that now.
Currently not loving my new haircut, but will give a chance...for like a couple of weeks, haha. I'm definitely going back in a couple of weeks to have it sorted. I'm also not exactly happy that my hairstylist didn't offer any advice. I've gone to her on & off over the years when I just needed a trim, never regularly. I know she has 20+ years of cutting experience. Her hair type is similar to mine. She must've known what happens when thick hair is cut shoulder length w/out layers. She's the type to give you the cut that you ask for and will not really offer any input. I guess I'm the type of customer that appreciates input & opinion! I mean, what do I know about hair? I welcome an expert's opinion. I want to find a stylist that will sit & talk to me about my hair LOL.
