I hate my hair - rant thread

^really?
i think blunt would be WAY worse, it would look too severe. the wispiness kind of softens it imo.
oh well, im stuck with it now...thanks for the input
:)

I have to agree, the wispy thing makes less sense. I'd have it sold, maybe blow dried with a round brush. If you really hate it, pull it to the side and clip it rather than have it wispy.

I wasn't sure where else to write this comment/question but I desperately need some advice and a place to rant. I got layers a couple months ago and I noticed ever since that my hair is more straighter on one side, there is definite unevenness. I thought that growing it out would help with this problem but it's worse. Should I go back to the hair stylist and ask her to add more layers to the straight side? Its like my hair has literally been drawn in half, one side is curly, one side is straight. It looks terrible. Any advice?

Where to start with my afro hair, it's thinner than I would like it to be (probably down to braiding through out my teens), easily gets dry, various different textures through out my whole head. There seems to be no reputable black salons in London who are known for working with natural hair or helping with a growth journey. Just all round frustrating and day to day learning new things.

This thread is just perfect for me...
As I grew up, my hair went <stiff-stiffer-stiffest-goddamn freaking stiff> level. I've cut it very short, grown it very long, used various products, etc etc, but it just grew itself out the way it wanted. Good thing is that I will never become bald, but I can never make a freaking style with it!!!

Yesterday I went to the salon without a clear idea of what I wanted, so I just told my stylist to give me a medium length cut. I also told her no new layers b/c I'm trying to grow my layers out.

Well, it's now very clear to me that my *thick* hair DOES need layers. My hair doesn't necessarily look bad, but the hair tips do look a bit too blunt, thick, and severe for my taste. I guess I should've learned more about my hair type & what cuts suit it best, huh? I'm so doing that now.

Currently not loving my new haircut, but will give a chance...for like a couple of weeks, haha. I'm definitely going back in a couple of weeks to have it sorted. I'm also not exactly happy that my hairstylist didn't offer any advice. I've gone to her on & off over the years when I just needed a trim, never regularly. I know she has 20+ years of cutting experience. Her hair type is similar to mine. She must've known what happens when thick hair is cut shoulder length w/out layers. She's the type to give you the cut that you ask for and will not really offer any input. I guess I'm the type of customer that appreciates input & opinion! I mean, what do I know about hair? I welcome an expert's opinion. I want to find a stylist that will sit & talk to me about my hair LOL.

I'm fed up to the back teeth with my hair at the moment. I'm trying to grow it from a very short on one side cut that just won't get any longer because it's been bleached and dyed bright neon orange so the ends snap off constantly. I just want it to be nearly all the same length. Is that too much to ask! Clearly yes, because every time I go and tell the hairdresser I want it trimmed and tidied to grow out, he cuts a ton off and leaves me in the same situation I was in three months back. Argh!

My hair is so thick, coarse and unruly I've kept it short since I was fifteen. However, I really want to grow it out, a la Zooey Deschanel, but fear of frizzy dome-like pyramid hair, and hours of blow-drying and styling. Woe!

I had my hair cut in to a layered bob a few months ago and now it's growing out. It's at this really awkward stage just above my shoulders and it looks horrible. I'm debating whether to cut it short again or just grow it out. I think I'll grow it out and style it similar to Natalia V's long layered hair. She was who I based my bob off anyways.

my rants...when i was blondie my hair was long and nice

Even when i gotta it so fine and sensitive... i did change so much of stylist while traveling that they destroyed my hair with trying colors and stuff... i did a massive haircut... & i even had to change of stylist to get a bit better fixing... stress is also pretty awful... now i try to use good products to keep my hair healthier and growing up again as i was like more than 2 years with short hair... i got tired and every time my new haircuts were more erratic...from too punk to too boring classic... same with trying to put color as i got bored...
At the moment im happy with my current stylist and just trying to growing up... cut it a bit to make it better but u know...still like a constant thing of changing up ur hair style...or something:unsure::blush:

the keratine liquid spray is making wonders with mny hair... i highly recommended it for people with a damaged or weak hair...

^ Reading your story on the previous page, I actually experienced the same thing. I always get bored with my hairstyle so quickly... I'm natural a very ashy blonde, more brunette actually. But I tried everything, from black to light blonde, to red to auburn... My hair wasn't suffering as it's quite thick naturally (thank god! I always hated this, but now I'm really happy about it) but then I cut it  And well, because of the fact it is so thick, it gets more curly and frizzy the shorter I cut it. I grew it out again, but I had to use the straightening iron almost everyday, so this is why my hair is pretty damaged now. I'm back to my natural hairolour and also to the lenght I want to have it, but I just hate the fact it's so unhealthy :( And I really don't want to cut it anymore!
So, well... I'll probably try out the Keratine Spray!

^I know when u do change so much its like your hair says hey!!! stop it and slow down... and yu gotta get some basic repair products and wait and try of being creative with what you have without the temptation of the continuous changes hehe... ive been there... it was one moment that i was so tired of waiting but now i see pictures from myself of that era and i wonder why i didn't enjoy it more hahah...but noooo im not gonna cut it massively or dying it massively in a loooong time... well i hope so...

we gotta be stronger than our hairs ^_^:flower:

^ I thank u here nijuyanah as ur profile is private and i don't want to disturb...:flower::flower:
well beleive me.... when i got into the hairdresser my hair was a total mess up... I was like HELP with this mess... And yeah radically the change has been for good but my stylist recommended me to keep using all caring products i have cause for some circumstances i have my hair specially sensitive right now so i have to take care... and she told me just to use keratine at the end of the hair and well yeah keep using repairing products of all kinds now and then... not just that...so well... i hope to have revive my damaged hair with this...at least it seems to and my mother and friend from here Trizzia have said so... although i have to keep with the caring...;)

I have annoying, thick, messy hair with a bunch of split ends. I hate brushing it cause my hairs drop like mad. I want straight hair! But whenever I get it "straightened" it goes back to being wavy within 2 months.

...But then I found Kerastase and my hair doesn't suck that bad anymore.

I don't know what is up with my hair recently. It has a mind of it's own. I'm really struggling to tie it up because (and i know this will sound really ridiculous) but it's too soft

I got my hair cut on Tuesday and it's too short. I want it back!

my hair was completely breaking off due to bleach, but i've left it alone for like 6 months and it finally feels like it's healthy again.
back to blonde!

My hair grows soooooooo slow  so I have to put up with this over- processed hair for way to long, and it makes me reluctant to get regular trims, so I spends hours just cutting individual split ends to retain length
