Can anyone suggest some good Indie titles? I am looking for fresh editorials, well I'm hoping to see something fresh. I do like mainstream magazines also but I've noticed my desire for something different is growing.

I think the Indie market is a good place to look for newer artists, designers, photographers etc. So if someone can suggest a few of their favourites for me, that would be great!

Cheers,

Maddi

Do you mean East Indian Vogue? I don't think so. I believe there's a Indian Cosmo or maybe it's Elle. I can't remember.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy the mainstream magazines, but I want to see something fresh from unknown people.

Are you sure i read that there is or is going to be indian Vogue!

Wait a minute. Are we talking about Indian (as in the country) magazines or indie (as in alternative, little-known) magazines?

I thought my post was clear, I was inquiring about Indie magazines, not magazines from India, but someone asked about Indian Vogue and I replied.

Thanks for posting your suggestions Susie, they look like they're all online magazines. My primary focus is on print, preferably well written articles where the writer knows the difference between your & you're and takes pride in their writing, coupled with some great photography. I think letthemeatcake is no longer in existence, the link you provided went to a hosting site or similar.

I'm sure there is a market for good Indie magazines, but I'm having trouble finding them.

The ones I suggested like Rag, Letthemeatcake and Lula are all print magazines. Rag might be the thing you're looking for - it's the first fashion tabloid to be produced in the UK where the point is to be anti-estalishment and stick two fingers up to the glossies. It's also being distrubuted for free at the moment.

http://www.letthemeatcakemagazine.com/ is the right URL...sorry about that!

www.rubbishmag.com is another one with a similar aim to Rag.

self service selfservicemagazine.com
purple purple.fr
maybe a `lil bit noi_se australian
maybe Dune
east west
Rebel this mag is close now i think
soma

Some of those magazines I would consider mainstream as they are finanancially backed by a publishing house, or financier, like I-D, Self Service or Dazed. But some of the ones listed are completely indepedent and they seem to fall into two categories. Either highly stylised or hippy chic.

Has anyone seen anything that isn't quite so over the top, or hippyesque? I like Another magazine it doesn't seem to be trying so hard to make a statement, and I thought Ten wasn't bad either, but I'd really like to see something fresh that I can get into.

Yeah, I thought The Face was no longer around, thanks Alien for clearing that up. I recently read of a magazine called Loyal either from one of the Scandanavian countries. Has anyone heard of it, and if so I can you lend your opinion.

Thx.

another it`s from D&C publishers and 10 is from UK vogue
indie i think it depends not from pub house of financier but from content

I want to see a magazine that is completely indepedent which in the industry means not financed by a major publishing house. Wallpaper was like that prior to Time-Warner taking over. I'm not sure but I think Tokion maybe indepedent but I can't swear to it.

Amelia's magazine looks intriguing, I've just looked at the preview pages for the first issue, I like the example of editorial with the blonde model. I also came across another fully indepedent magazine called.

www.lusciousmagazine.com that's just gone to print.
