Interview September 2014 : The Photographers Issue

I like Daria's. The others are all wearing makeup and several are washed out to make it look like their skin is smooth and perfectly even - standard magazine stuff. Daria's is a more honest photograph. She doesn't appear to be wearing much makeup. Her skin looks maybe a little sun-damaged, but she still looks beautiful and her eyes tell a story. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

The only one I dislike is Nicole's. Definitely does not read as a love story, her hand is up, almost in a "hands up!" surrender position, the man looks a little rough around the edges and she looks like she's on the floor of a dirty alley-way or something. She doesn't look like she's into it, in fact she looks a bit shocked. The photo, for me, reads as some sort of attempt at being sexy or edgy by depicting r*pe in a fashion/art context and if it is intentional, it's rather disgusting.

well done! I love all covers. With multiple covers I normally like just 1 or 2. But here is hard to tell a fav. All are amazing!

I think Daria's cover is outstandingly beautiful, she looks like a Woman.

You can always count on Interview to shake things up and save the month .
Such a brilliant idea after the models issue last year to dedicate this one to photographers. The covers are outstanding, I love the diverse and unexpected cast. Keira , Léa and Amber are my favourites but they all look amazing.

Love the whole idea of photographers getting to choose their cover stars.

Though Kidman's cover is a little strange; it looks like she's being sexually assaulted. It's certainly different.

Daria has never looked more like Phoebe Philo.

Im quite surprised seeing all these r*pe comments about Klein's cover. When I saw it, at first glimpse I immidiately thought she's being bitten by a vampire (?). Maybe Im wrong. Will agree that its the weakest and the less covery image of all though, despite my love to Klein's work in general.

I like M&Ms cover the most, they can do no wrong in my eyes, will definitely try to get it although choice is always very limited in the place where I live. 2nd I like the most is the one with Keira, did not recognize her at all!

^it kinda looks like "r*pe" to me, the guy has some scratches on his face and Nicole is wearing a cross... but Klein is always tapping on the BDSM scene so it could be related to that (?)

I don't see r*pe on Nicole Kidman's cover but references to The Kiss of the vampire with the cross and all. I don't think a fashion magazine would ever dare to glamourize r*pe. The Vampire theme seems more plausible : very dark, very sensual , very Klein.

forgive my ignorance but how is it obvious? is it because of the cross?

I'm not familiar with the reference, if that is what he's referencing, that's fine, but the image wont read that way to alot of people, I can tell you that. I always thought in vampire lore, a cross or crucifix would scare vampires away, and the fellow in the photo looks pretty rough and roughed up, not the kind of glamorous vampire characterization currently popular. I dunno. The photo makes me feel uncomfortable. Maybe that's the point. I don't think Klein's work, generally speaking, and this is no exception.

Daria has been photographed sans makeup so much the past few years that people seem to think that she's wearing makeup the entire time...

THIS is what September is all about.

I think they're all really great, but in different ways.

Naomi is legend. She looks incredible. Like a goddess.

Amber! I love the styling and the filter. And that face is classic.

Daria ... it's certainly not her most beautiful shot. she looks about 20 years older than she is. but there is something so utterly captivating about it - i actually think it's the most powerful photograph of them all.

Lea is just so beautiful. a very calm, focused, determined expression. love.

Nicole - i definitely got 'vampire', not 'r*pe' from this pic. although maybe they're not mutually exclusive. but i SO wish she had've been facing the camera. also, Nicole is one of my favourite actresses ever, but i'm completely over her unless she lets her face go back to normal again.

Keira. simply breathtaking. this is SERVING a cover. attitude and confidence and surreal beauty. wow.
