Jacquemus F/W 2021.22 Paris

Once there was a time when he seemed promising. The more time passes, the more he designs just for LA insta baddies.
and also, I don’t get how successful brands suck this bad at tailoring? like hire someone that knows how to do it. probably he just lacks self-awareness so much that he can’t even notice it lol

Simon is just not able to do a proper tailoring and the fabrics are really questionable. You can tell that the Jacquemus' pricepoint got lowered, there's no sense of any kind of sophistication and unfortunately everything looks pretty cheap. That being said, at least he tries to evolve. Such a shame he's now into gimmicks stolen from brands such as Alyx and Fashionnova.

The negative comments on Simon always surprise me. He makes luxury accessible clothes that are wearable and covetable because he keeps up with the trends. I love this collection but maybe I’m biased because seeing a runway where I actually want to wear every look is something I love

there’s an evolution for sure but it also looks very… amateur.
maybe it’s because of like many here pointed out, the tailoring is not pristine and it’s very obvious.

I also see a lot of Rick Owens but quite toned down. is it just me?
but it’s not blatant so I guess it’s ok to get inspiration from others, everyone does it.

it’s not impressive, only the sexier looks (bikini tops with long skinny trousers like Kendall and Mica are wearing) feel truthfully Jacquemus to me.

Laughable, it's just beyond my understanding how he continuosly manages to do worse clothes, the more resources he has. The models look so hideous that I don't know how anyone would be tempted to acquire these rags.

Once again, stop paying for Kendall Jenner to model your crap and start paying good seamstresses and pattern makers, because whoever was responsible for this mess should be banned from ever touching a pair of scissors again. Those pants in the opening look will haunt my nightmares from this day on...

MW & Givenchy better watch out or Jacquemus gonna snatch all of their clients. This collection is so desperately chasing the IG kids is so sad. He need to comeback to the South of France and stop hanging out with "those Calabasas people".

All I can see in this collection is trendy clothes full of gimmicks with no substance. Biker shorts, crop top everything, non-existent tailoring.

My reaction to the collection matches that of the unenthused audience who slowly, almost forcefully clapped at the end of the show.

He is a media and social media darling who can do no wrong. He is smart by teaming up with the current “it girls” who flaunt his mundane clothes and overhyped accessories over platforms like Twitter and Instagram for millions and millions of likes. But, when it actually comes to the clothing, it is very much indifferent. As @perhydrol mentioned the lack of quality tailoring is noteworthy given the many suiting options shown. The short puffers and overly cropped coats are egregious and the epitome of influencer fashion. I enjoyed the strapless dresses though, the movement and cut was appreciated.

He should truly reconsider designing menswear. I loved the duffle coat, but that is where the appreciation ends. Mundane, uninspired clothes that you could easily get for a fraction of the price (yes, even with the lowered price points) at Zara. The biker shorts are ridiculous.

The beauty of SJ’s shows comes through his use of unexpected references and his commitment to furthering the past through dress. There is a sense of his beloved “workwear” element, but beyond that, I see no real effort and excitement. Just more clothes coming down a runway. But alas there were those little bags, so maybe it was a rounding success after all.

This is beyond basic and the tailoring is awful with the opening look being the worst. I was really rooting for Simon, but it’s rapidly disappearing into irrelevancy.

I wish he, and everyone else for that matter, would put "plus size" models down the runway in clothes that look GOOD on them. Is it really that hard? Just this past year everyone's approach regarding size, race, whatever, has been executed in such a "deer in the headlights with a car going at it 100 mph" way it's just

Anyways I kinda feel bad for him. Idk what's going on... A couple times I thought maybe he had some good ideas. But it's starting to look like a broken clock is right twice a day type situation. Disappointing.

I’m rooting for Simon but this is a mess.
I bought some of his clothes and I think there was something interesting, chic and refreshing about those specific collections I like. I bought pieces from fall 2019 and 2018 and it’s hardly possible to believe that this is the same designer.

It feels very done.

The colour palette is great but this is his weakest collection (to not say worst) ever.

It’s insane to believe that he is at his most successful and yet the clothes looks cheap.

I don’t know if the limits he is showing are more related to his technicality or his imagination.

I don’t want to see him end-up like Alexander Wang…And see now buy now is not a pretext for mediocrity.

I don’t want to sound snobbish but this is hardly luxury. I can understand that it is maybe expensive for some but this ain’t luxury.
The only times luxury and accessible goes well together is during sales time.

The collection is very now but doesn’t feel designed. He is targeting an audience that surely cares more about the look than the quality but when you compare Jacquemus in terms of quality to all it competition in that contemporary price tag, it’s actually disappointing.

Ofc this is not luxury price tag as you might expect more contemporary but for most people this is luxury and more importantly accessible. Whether you like the Insta baddie look or not he does it well and the brand does well because of its price point

Those are the worst pants I have ever seen. If they make the models look like that then just imagine what they would do to a normal person.

What kind of gay man is unable to design for men?? He needs to stop.
I root for him now only because he's hot, but that won't last.
He needs to launch a fragrance, because the clothes, and tiny (stupid) bags aren't working for me.
