Jacquemus S/S 2022 Hawaii

the colours are too similar to last season i think he works better with neutrals, there are some nice pieces here but i have to say i am getting a bit sick of seeing that bag everywhere now !

He really flopped. I bought some of his first mens collection to give it a chance for some basic summer-y stuff to wear, but I recently got rid of it all lol. The vibes are just too off now  overreaction lol but I just don't like the idea of stupid pre-frontal cortex not developed instagram ppl clocking me in public

I had so much hope for him…I was cheering for him…But this is a whole lot of mediocrity.
Mediocre is really the word to describe this.

He decided to take the plane, to invite people, to create a set for that: a line up of uninteresting, not even decently made pieces in the cheapest looking linen and polyester ever.

Sometimes it’s OK to miss a season. This would have had the same impact on his brand as a regular lookbook.

He seems to be another one more interested in being a designer than to design.

This is very mediocre, almost annoying.
When I see a young one like Charles de Villemorin at least trying to propose something and then, there are people like Jacquemus and the guy who walked his own show, I’m baffled.

Those people are supposed to represent the new generation of French fashion designers…

Honestly, I still look back at his pre-2020 shows in hope that he manages to get that spark back. His stuff gave me Lacroix × Prada vibes. Now it's giving me mid-market Tiktok trash. The success of La Bomba got to his head, Le Gadjo was the start of the degeneration of the brand and Gigi's hair flip at L'Année '97 was the nail in the coffin.

I recently found out that the man responsible for the show videography was also the director of WAP's music video.

I want this brand to go away.

Their clothes are probably still better made than those by Jacquemus lmao.

I still can't get over the Spring 2016 show: a giant ball of red yarn, a random white horse and the flattest looking fabrics in the colours of the French flag... Not much has really changed.

I can't get over his shows from Spring 2017 to Spring 2020: They actually gave me hope that a designer could succeed having to submit to the tropes the rest of his generation's designers were...

How naive of me.

Clothes aside, I have to say some of the models are absolutely gorgeous (especially the women--some look like they could be related to Devon Aoki)

I agree. The casting this season is much more interesting than "La Montagne". The "Montaigne" girls walked much better though. I remember a few months ago, someone here praised Olivier Theyskens for casting his unique set of models instead of appealing to the clout. I like that Simon took this approach here. The body diversity also seems more natural here. A range of morphological differences here and there instead of a token fat girl in a strechy dress.

what happened to him, seriously? circa 2018 his stuff still looked like overpriced home crafts projects but there was an interesting idea here and there, and he had a really good way with accessories (the Chiquito, La Bamba, even those claw clips). This though....nope. Good casting, sure, but no thank you to the clothes. He was part of that wave of mid-2010s designers like Vetements who maybe didn't have the most technically accomplished clothes but what they put out was still sort of interesting in that meme fashion way. This though...nope. Looks like he's not even trying anymore.
