Simon Porte Jacquemus - Designer, Creative Director of Jacquemus

This could be a mistranslation of "my latest show". Both "last" and "latest" translate to "dernier/dernière" in French.
Yes it’s more latest.

In reality, kudos to him to finding ways to explore the South of France thing.

Hopefully as years go by he will explore it with more depth. As the Avignon collection for Vuitton showed, it can be inspiring from a cultural/architectural POV. As Karl did with Saint Tropez, it can a generational inspiration. Of course you have Lacroix who came from Arles but it was more emotional.

Yes Simon did Les Sentons de Provence which was a real collection with depth but I’m afraid to see sexy clothes in shades of yellow and pink again.

If I'm remembering correctly, you said that you're French, right?

I agree that Jacquemus would benefit from pulling away from the destination resortwear approach and moving into something more cultural. The South of France (and the Mediterrean overall) is a very culturally rich area that is very different from the gilded, urban landscape of Paris and it would make for a nice contrast to the typical Parisian luxury narrative.

Well at least we know LVMH won’t come knocking on his door
At the moment, being part of LVMH would be like travelling in the sinking Titanic.
He will do well by himself because he is very smart and he made some customers fall in love with his vision.

And that will show others that your project can be something more than a jumping board to climb onto a dusty heritage brand owned by a greedy corporation.

Go, Simon, go! ❤️

I don’t think the post and the likes were shady at all.
The reality is that LVMH is a bit the landmark that indicate how the industry is doing as a whole.

And to be fair, Jacquemus wouldn’t have probably be there today without the support of LVMH/Karl Lagerfeld.
He owes his success to himself but we never get somewhere alone.

Having L’Oreal on board and having them develop the beauty entity is giving the illusion of independence he wants for now (and that didn’t worked with having LVMH on board). I wonder (giving the ambition of L’Oreal) if that illusion will last.

I've head from people close to that collab that LVMH is interested in long term investment in Jacquemus since he refused to sell it...

Jacquemus is a very smart guy who also happens to be very creative (I also think he is a very authentic and down-to-earth person). His secret is that he's never too serious, he simply makes clothes that look like fun and that are actually fun to wear. I own several of his designs over the years and I still wear most of them if I want a playful twist in an outfit. It's not that deep and not that complicated. He has been killing it in the past two seasons and no, I am in my 40s and I am not 'lured' by him (don't even follow his Instagram). I'm still craving a couple of his 'La Casa' pieces (I think he got inspiration from a Phoebe's Céline top, but totally transformed it into his own signature garment). Without seeing his campaigns or IG account, I looked at his online shop and found myself very excited about a few pieces including this look I'd wear from head to toe:
