This is a risky thread since it will have a very short thread-life in my opinion, pulp aren't exactly popular right now and not people know Jarv, at least where I'm from but hey, they are magnificent and I adore every bit of them. His 'n' Hers, Different Class and This is Hardcore are all absolutely wonderful albums..and I think Jarvis has STYLE! Maybe not so much now but I bought their DVD with all this footage of them and their video clips and all and wow, best 90's style ever! He didn't even look like he was in the early 90's. He looked like..well..like a cooler version of how hipsters dress nowadays.

So here's a thread dedicated to him. And hellooow, who makes sexier lyrics than pulp!?

He went out with Chloe Sevigny I think..if anyone has any pics of them together that'd be lovely!

his name's not Jesus but he has the same initials

Hey - you're not alone! I love Jarvis Cocker! I grew during the Britpop era and Pulp really really blew my socks off with their lyrics. I loved his rakish dandy style dress sense. This guy surely inspired the Franz Ferdinand art school look.

His wife is actually really cool too - she's Camille Bidault Waddington, a stylist. Almost a style icon in the British fashion circle in her own right. She styled some stuff for THe Face and Pop magazine and also was a consultant to Marc Jacobs.

:woot:

wonderful thread, twilight.
I agree, he always looked the part. it helps that he has, what i think is, the perfect male clothes-horse body. and that he enjoys his colours.

And those who don't know..
Jarv wrote some songs for the HP film - Magic Works, Do the Hipogriff and This is the Night. They made the 'Wyrd Sisters' band and he collaborated with Johnny Greenwood and Phil Selway of Radiohead.
TOO BAD those damn Daniel Radcliffe/etc. kids probably don't even know who Jarv and Johnny are and weren't too bothered by them doing songs for the film! Ahh well. :(

^Actually Daniel Radcliffe is a bit of an indie music freak - and there's no one over the age of 12 who DOESN'T know who Jarvis Cocker is after that infamous Brit awards stunt.

Really? Well that's good. I always thought of those kids as pretty mainstream type.
Yep everyone might know him in UK I guess..but I don't know I guess I've just got this thing for them since I grew up listening to all that britpop where no one around me knew wtf it was.

I reckon Glasgow School of Art might have helped as well!

The Harry and the Philosopher's hash stash/ Goblet of Fire/whatever cameo was great - they should have cut that crap with the dragon to get some more Jarvis in.

I agree. I wasn't even listening to the Ron/Hermione dialogue when Jarvis was on, I was trying so hard to hear the songs. They were on for about 3 seconds and each song played for about 10 seconds.

Wonderful thread!!:woot:

I was a teeny bopper during the mid-90s, liking the Spice Girls, and I completely passed off britpop as loud and annoying:ninja: ... With that said, during the past two-three years or so, I've fallen in love with Pulp (Common People being one of my favourite songs of all time:heart:) and I think Jarvis Cocker is so talented and stylish - I just adore him.

camille wotserchops works with marc jacobs a LOT

Common People............the dance in the video is hysterical....everytime it comes on my iPod I want to do it............

Join the club, Alejandro. :mohawk:

If anybody hasn't heard the song Death Goes to the Disco get it now. It's one of Pulp's best b-sides I think, at least from the older ones..(well not really a b-side, it was on that pulp goes to the disco compilation thing).

right I'll stop flooding this thread now.
