Jason Wu for Target

^^I don't understand how that's still possible? Why is Target not enforcing the rules about only 6 items per person? Same thing happens whenever H&M has a collection despite their "rules". It looks increasingly to me that the high street shops WANT things to get sold out because it results in more hype? But we all know that at least 50% comes back and goes on sale. So I really don't get it.

After a few years of designer collaborations and knowing about the reselling problems, I really don't understand why stores don't set rules. What is showed in that video is just a shame.

they were supposed to set a 2 items per person rule./...i see that it didn't happen

^I read there was a 6 pieces rule, but clearly it's very random were the rules are enforced. Which is why I really think the high streets chains might not care since it helps hyping the collections.

i feel like this whole getting cleaned out business really wasn't a problem at target until the missoni collection...

i always found stuff before when i wandered in days after the collection hit stores...
for things like proenza schouler, temperley, rodarte... it's only recently that things got insane and disgusting in there.

I know, I find it extremely odd. What changed? To me, the Missoni collection was nothing to write home about. Only a few worthwhile pieces to get worked up over.

The notoriety of the hopeful eBay resale value.

It does seem to be that Target is encouraging this sort of hysteria. If it is the case that there's already rules that have been set, then those stores who are allowing it to take place should be punished. However I'm very doubtful anything will happen. Here's hoping this kind of thing doesn't transpire at the H&M/Marni release.

around here, rodarte was the big one....before that, no one gave a crap...

im finding the quality is steadily decreasing with these collections as well. i remember the alexander McQueen ones, the proenza collection, a lot of the early ones were better materials, more complex cuts.....the more recent ones are really crappy materials, too simplistic cuts and they lack a nice key piece, like a leather jacket....

i received my black 50's style dress from the collection. i got a size 6 and i think it runs true to size. (glad they got rid of the stupid junior sizing).

it wasnt too wrinkly after being mailed and the few wrinkles there were seemed to magically relax as i tried the garment on.

i am going to keep it. i think it was flattering and not too "tweenish".

that is so funny that the video of the couple buying the entire jason wu collection in miami went viral! the people in the videos have been identified. wonder if they are going to be audited by the tax man. :p

the only other piece i'm interested is the blue wheel dress that alexa chung wore in vogue magazine, that was on online only piece. but i think i'll wait a few months to get it on ebay after the hype dies down. and hopefully buy it for less than retail.

The flap satchel just came in the mail for me, and I can't tell you how much I love it. SO roomy, two cell phone compartments that I can use for my iPhone and iPod. There's enough room to slip a magazine or book (or perhaps even both). PERFECT for me! =DDDDD

could this story get any more crazy? if he planned to donate all the jason wu stuff to charity then why is he still trying to sell the jason wu stuff on ebay right this second?

Jason Wu Target "Vulture" Says He's Donating Clothes to Charity

miaminewtimes.com/by kyle munzenreider

When designer Jason Wu's limited edition collection for Target went on sale earlier this month, a couple at the Midtown Miami Target store rampaged their way through the clothing section and made off with a large chunk of the collection. The story and accompanying YouTube video made blog headlines all across the Internet, and many figured they were planning to sell the clothes for marked up prices on eBay.

Now, one half of the couple, Kevin Wills -- AKA DJ Midas -- tells Riptide he never planned to resell the clothes for a profit. Instead he says he plans to sell the clothes at a charity event benefiting Dress for Success.

"I like doing charity stuff," he says. "I like going to the ghetto and passing stuff out of my car."

So a few weeks before the launch of the Jason Wu collection he claims he got an idea to grab as many of the clothes he could with a plan to give them away for charity. Along with his girlfriend he was the first to arrive at Target that morning and says it took them about 40 seconds to load up each cart. The total bill once he was done: Just under $5,300.

Unsurprisingly the rest of the shoppers weren't too pleased, and a mini-fiasco broke out.

"One lady dug her nails into me and made me bleed," he says. "She slammed her cart into my leg."

Wills says he overheard other shoppers talking about plans to resell the clothing anyway, so he didn't feel too bad about his actions. He also says he made sure to leave a few of each item behind, and let some of the more polite shoppers take items they wanted from his cart.

"I was so upset by the way they acted I didn't want to appease them by telling them that what I was doing was for charity."

So now Wills has unveiled his grand charitable plans: a March 4th event at the Stage to benefit Dress for Success.
After purchasing a $10 entrance ticket each participant will be entered into a raffle to win one of 14 Jason Wu for Target scarfs. If $5,000 is raised before the event, the rest of the clothing will be donated directly to Dress for Success. If not, event goers will be able to shop the collection. Pieces will sell for sticker price plus taxers, but shoppers are expected to make an additional charitable donation.
