^I was talking about celebs. eg Angelina Jolie, she has shown plenty of "flaws" yet she´s quite successful isn´t she? I´d say more famous than Beyonce worldwide and in a wider range of audience.
Of course I think all celebs to some extent have construed images and control their persona, I just don´t think everyone has to micromanage it like Beyonce does.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are major control freaks about their image, just as much as Beyonce and Jay-Z (if not more so).

I'm sure you're right. I was just using her as an example of a person people talked about in not a positive way yet still is famous. Like showing a flaw wont lose you popularity...

Angelina Jolie is as popular as she is now because people perceive her as having overcome her flaws. No longer is she the bisexual, blood-vial wearing, Gothic rebel who kisses her own brother (the public wasn't so keen on her in those times). Instead, she is seen as having "reformed" and has become a humanitarian, UN ambassador, in a "perfect" relationship with the second coming of Robert Redford, raising a picture-perfect multiracial family.

Alot of that narrative has to do with stringent image control.
