Jean Paul Gaultier “The Show Must Go On”

After M. Gaultier’s final Houte Couture show last January, the House has announced that each season a new designer will be invited to interpret the codes of the house. The first to do so will be Chitose Abe, the founder and designer of SACAI. But with everything that has happened in the past few months JPG has decided to postpone this Couture show to January 2021.

The Show Must Go On

“While the world seems to be closing in on itself, JPG is opening its doors by sharing the behind-the-scenes of its Couture House. This is a full immersion inside a show that is not a show, a way to meet the Petites-Mains and Artisans of the House while being guided by our longtime friends and a new generation of muses. A dialogue between the world of Haute Couture and multifaceted French beauties. Going forward, the House wants to keep protecting its heritage and values as it gets ready to write a new chapter in its book.”

Thank god Jean Paul is there to give a job to Miss France!
The photos are fun. Maybe it’s enough in this very gloomy Couture Week.

That's a very interesting concept for some reason. I like it.

:sigh:what’s the point of this preview…??? (I was confused initially since I thought this was Chitose's offering.)

It’s solid photography, but why is it just designs from the last couture collection? (Which frankly-- are some of the worst Gaultier designs and one of the worst presentation of his entire career: Gaudy, kitschy and campy…) If I didn’t know anything about Gaulteir’s unspeakably complex and stunningly rich archive, and all the iconic shows and campaigns— and only saw this last couture show, and this… I’d be wondering what’s the big deal with this brand; it’s so… tacky…

(God— those denim pieces are vile…)

Thank god Jean Paul is there to give a job to Miss France!
