John Galliano Mens F/W 06.07 Paris

i reli think they r all very nice design, but then... it looks freezing for the f/w collection

When I judge a designers work I always judge it by that designers past work and not by other designers collections, otherwise it truly is comparing apples to oranges. Something like comparing Heatherette to Chanel makes no sense. The only thing they have in common is that they make clothes. With fashion, it's more than that!!! Judging on this collection compared to Galliano's past Homme collections it looks a mess. Its DAVID NAVARRO MEETS STAR TREK!!! The best collections he spits out seem to be his spring/summer lines SS 04 (as seen through Arena Magazine) SS05 (pirate collection which i literally went broke for!!!) and SS06 (which I hated at first than saw the actual pieces and it was mind blowing)

I have to take some of my complains back after seeing the whole collection. Half of collection is total crap and the styling sucks but there are actually some really nice pieces...

Not a fan. At first I thought I would like it because the first dozen or so looks were pretty cool, but then it went downhill. Honestly, if I wanted the pre-pubescent junkie rocker look I'd go to Dior Homme. I hated the styling, I hated the pants that looked more like leggings than trousers and I hated the fact that there was no defining theme or themes in the collection at all, which is a shock because one of John's strengths is his ability to process his inspirations and tie them all together in ways no one would have imagined. I don't even know how to describe this collection.

I did love these five coats though.

He is carving out his niche as an alternative to Dolce and Gabanna and Dsquared. Of the three I like this the best, it's fun and oddly enjoyable. The blatant commercialsim can be suspended at least for a moment and soak in some eye candy.

what? an alternative?
those absolutely commercialized and un-fashionable MASS MARKET LABELS are not going in line with names like Galliano, Watanabe, Westwood. Look even at the cutting and concept, far more deep, far more profound...for intellectual fashionistas...not those DG-SLUTS etc which are lets face it the larger part of "fashion people")

and referring to stockists - they are crazy about actually buying all this gazette stuff and moreover - in Russia they tend to mix items from prev collections with current ones and sell them full price.

but..there's no choice to most people...and we have only 3 sizes of each thing...((

Galliano love this , he has people talking about fashion , he doesn't play it safe. He is one of my favourite designers , I don't love everything about this collection though but I like some of the pieces and influences. I'd rather a designer was controversial and encouraged debate , than to be boring and predictable.

I'm a bit dumb. So can someone enlighten me as to what is "profound" and/or "intellectual" about walking around in the winter with nothing on but a pair of skimpy briefs, some armwarmers and a scarf made out of climbing socks?

 You just don't understand, Ok?! (strikes a pose)

Glam, I can't believe you put Junya Watanabe and Galliano in the same league.

Haha I never said anything about profound and frankly the underpants scare me.

absolutely nothing....i'm glad someone is able to think for themselves

It's may be not very "intellectual" or "profound" but I certainly think he has his own way of inventing menswear that other designers would never think of. Sure the underwear, sockscarfs, long john pants, and "Galliano lone wolf" tees may be tacky and cheessy but they are fun and I'm sure that they will sell well. However he does have wonderful pieces in this collection. I love the black chiffon/tulle coat, the jackets with corset detailed closures, the grayish leather jackerts, and many more coats, jackets, and shirts. He experiments with different things and I think that's what makes his collection Galliano Homme and his clothes special. I'm not sure you can find any similar pieces elsewhere.

Really, this collection is great, wearable and creative!!!

^quite the word

Some of the designs are not really clothes, quite funny you would walk around in a trenchcoat collar and just your underwear and gloves on (not to be ment ironicly)

Galliano...intellectual?? When his name is printed all over a jock strap I think it loses all credibility as "intellectual". You see this IS just a mass market label. Not mass market, not for the prices but you know what I mean. Look at it carefully, it's commerical kitsch. And you know they do sell it right along with Dsquared and Dolce and Gabanna, it's the same clients. Galliano has nothing on Watanabe or Westwood. absurd.

Absolutely amazing. Wearable and beautiful
There is no haute couture in man's fashion and Galliano Homme is the one closest to haute couture. No other collections can be compared with it. Those cutting, colours, fabric and designs are far better than Watanabe or Westwood. Watanabe and Westwood are impossible to compare with John Gallaino. Far far far away.
