Jonathan Anderson - Designer, Creative Director of J.W. Anderson & Loewe

Ten years and he managed to not get burnt and stay relevant… That’s impressive and one of the very few designers that has achieved such a feat.

Other designers like MGC or Demna run out of ideas in three shows and burnt their brands with the most terrible merch and with awful logomania.

In his case, everything felt desirable, made sense and had a high fashion vibe about it. He was the first one to introduce a total brand revamp with the new logo, packaging and stuff… then BV, and then the rest of the brands followed but with little success.

I think he has a great mind and can’t wait to see what he does at Dior. After MGC’s Zara approach literally anything will be welcome. You can’t be worse than her. She is the rock bottom.

I wonder how long he is going to manage the 2 brands/ 2 cities approach.
Dior is a huge brand. Doing menswear and womenswear, being involved in the strategic decisions with Delphine…You need a full time commitment. I can’t imagine.
I know it’s not impossible as we have an example like Karl who did 4 brands at one time and JW is a CD and not really a designer designer but you still have to come with ideas and concepts.

I also wonder if Delphine is going to cool down the machine created by Pietro Beccari. Bernard Arnault said in his last AG that Pietro loves fashion. That explain why every collection gets a huge runway and indeed clients wants that. It’s part of the VIC experience.

Maybe they will go back to lookbooks for Prefall collections or things like that. Because DH is as big as Dior.
And I can’t wait also to see how his universe is going to infuse in Cordelia de Castellane’s one.

At this point everything is still speculation. Nothing is confirmed. And how do you know he is going to Dior? Rumors only???

The Paris fashion scene is not that big. And the perimeter where those people work is so limited that people talk freely and everybody always knows somebody in a studio.
Strategic decision are not always accurate but when it comes to people and mostly LVMH, it’s different. At Chanel and Hermes, they have really that culture of secret.

Exactly. My boyfriend told me JWA was leaving as early as last year, even before the Dior portion was coming up, because of friends in the studio talking.

He's been posting a lot of retrospective imagery from his work at Loewe these past few days. Makes me wonder if that means we're getting the Dior announcement next week...
And what if he just got fired. Delfine always had weird face expressions at his few last shows.

All the rest are rumors. I refuse to believe that MGC will go that easy.

No one in his sound mind would fire JW after so, so, so much success. He is probably the only real creative director left.

Well, maybe at Kering

I thought the same...

Dior stocks have dropped a looooooot since the beginning of March and they are -30% in a year, it would make sense for them to announce it soon. Although I think they might want to wait till the Guccinciaga thing is a little bit more over.

Since when people get fired quietly?

I think they will announce JWA departure from Loewe and PS appointment before announcing anything for Dior.

Dior has a show next month and the teams are still preparing the show in Rome too. There’s maybe more sense of decorum and pure business intelligence at LVMH than Kering.

But tbh, I don’t think people at LVMH sees the Pinault as serious competition anymore. Dior is bigger than Gucci anyway. And I think the arrival of JWA will have a warmer response from the market than what Kering experienced at Gucci anyway.
