Dior Homme 2007 no? I mean the shoes…
They are not great but to think that this is what he pulled from the archives…

They are the exact same shoes as seen on JWA's runway - They are similar looking to the ones from Dior Homme SS'07 - The latter have a slightly higher heel and no 'frame' to the sole (not sure how well they sold for men, but we did quite OK with them for women in the smaller sizes).

That being said, it doesn't seem as if Robert wanted to wear the cropped shirt styled with this look in the show… 😬

I recognise the appeal of something like the Dracula bag, even though the Book Tote is wildly overpriced. But when you're mining children's classics for sales, and when those bags are made for £ and bought for ££££, I'd rather just give some money to a child literacy organisation than make whatever statement owning this bag is supposed to provide.

We are reading to much into it :-).....people hang labubu´s on hermes bags etc

Blazy did also BV kids books graphics in one of his last collections and had kids bean bags seats at his last show and ADV ...naive childlike and conceptual fashion go hand in hand :-)

Also Dior does have a child like fairytale style quality to its all so fits.

Yea this looks like Maria completely since it doesnt look Dior at all. They had her dressed terribly before at least here she looks like a well dressed movie star.

I didnt even recall the Hedi ones when loolking at this. These are like reclaimed vintage fisherman sandals. I def passed on the Hedi ones now that I recall them lol but they worked …

Ideas for next Dior Book totes:

-Mein Kampf
-Kamasutra
-Sex by Madonna
-The Holy Bible
-The Quran (including a bullet-proof vest, just in case)
-The Satanic Verses (with another bullet-proof vest included too)
-The Epstein files (ok, it´s not a book...but it´s relevant!).
-The Necronomicon
-The Art of the Deal by Donald Trump

I'm sorry, you know I am a Maria stan, but those Book totes are not giving at all. They all feel like they just got released as a temporary Art project / collaboration, just like Lady Dior Art collection.
I don't feel like the basic Karen, who enjoyed the Pietro Ruffo flower / zodiac prints book totes will be enamored by these art school projects lookalike.
The book tote reputation is a bit tarnished due to the sweatshop scandal, if I were Jonathan I would play around the low quality perception of the bag and fool the audience with the release of heavily embroidered / leather craftmanship (a la Bottega) versions of them. Did we even ever get an exotic version of the bag? Like an alligator macrocannage quilted one? Without the Pietro Ruffo prints these book totes look even cheaper than what they actually are honestly.

Don´t worry, he´ll fix this by releasing new ones...with bows...bows all over it.

Are stylists being told they must only use the entire look from the collection, or are they just collectively being lazy?

They are lazy and sometimes doing it because they assume it will be approved by the designer.
But essentially, when you have everything at your disposal and your only requirement is to style the client with a brand from H2T, you can do whatever.
It’s also an ego thing btw to have the celebrity pull off a runway look to boost their status (of the celebrity and the stylist).

Genius idea! Let's do it in gold-foil embroidery with orange-tanned handles, and book Melania for the campaign. I'm sure this is the best way for LVMH to get tariff exemptions. Clearly, attending the inauguration wasn't enough...

the bow is dior as crumbled camelias is chanel :)
You got to give it to them though.
They already invented the Cannage based on the Chanel quilting. They have copied Chanel so much over the last 35 years while getting away with that…
That’s some kind of genius because ultimately they have to invent a story out of 10 years of Mr Dior.

They are tirelessly trying with the Muguet too.

i do ....i do think to doing the Cannage quilting is smartest thing to do.
as you know is taken from the cane weaving of the colonial indochine era Napoleon III chairs that Christian Dior had in his fashion salon from day one Monsieur Dior’s first collection in 1947.

The rattan caning on the chair inspired Dior to use the pattern on the packaging of his 1953 fragrance “L’Eau Fraîche”. so dior was expanding on it already in his time.

For me its was a acceleration of something that Monsieur Dior would have done if he continued for longer and taking cue from chanel bag to do his own version sure.

And its what Karl did also in 80s re- establish chanel with things she likes and put on repeat ..i think that's how you build longevity in to a brand post founder.

Making codes i see JWA doing this this i find is good thing but he needs to start again with a pure message and don't go to quirky to soon.
the pink bow the grey the moire , the pied de poule beside new look and the othe abc lines etc makes sense to push it all.

i see he plays with the idea of the Dior shape and size difference in the fonts and makes it into a design elemant you get like the round O or big D etc etc

As i said he does his homework but the outcome is not there yet.
