Jourdan Dunn is Pregnant!

LMAO:lol: It's not that easy to hide pregnancy in a commercial. More often than not Pregnancy RUINS your skin, my mom still blemishes from 17 years ago. Don't believe that healthy glow crap. This is a beauty contract, as in you need to look beautiful, these types of contracts usually stipulate that you can't alter (read:deteriorate) your appearance too much. Jourdann is gorgeous but when have you ever seen a maybelline commercial with Julia, Adriana, Christy or Erin where they only shoot from the neck up? Also she is the only prolific black model they have signed recently, they may want to start advertising immeaditely, Jourdann isn't going give birth in December and be on a Maybelline set by Boxing day...it could take a year or more, my question is will they wait for her?
Jourdan I dont think has a CONTRACT with maybelline , she just did a campaign for them , if she did sign a multimillion contract news/press would have announced it , maybelline usually makes an announcment even if the model isnt really known so I believe its only a campaign;)

One of the reasons that society looks down on teenage mothers is because there is an assumption that a teenage woman/girl is not in a place financially to care for a baby. But I think we can all agree that Jourdan is certainly better off in that respect then most other teenagers.
I'd say finances is the least of the many concerns. Raising a kid is much much more than being able to afford the task. More importantly, the assumption of unreadiness comes from teenage woman/girl's maturity level.

I don't care if the person has been working for years, has been living independently, has been raising their brothers and sisters since the age of 8, has been supporting themselves, no matter which way you look at it - 18 is young. I cannot think of anyone who at 18, was still not searching for his/her identity and trying to figure out where his/her life was going. People are just beginning to understand and explore themselves at 18. How can they be expected to take on the responsibility of raising another human being when they're still on their own self-discovering journey?

Sure, people may say that so-and-so teenage mother was a great mother and they know of 30/40 year olds who make terrible mothers, but the fact remains that 18 is generally NOT an ideal age to have children.

A child is the most enormous responsibility and burden you can take on. Beyond sheltering, feeding, clothing a human being, you're responsible for raising them with ethics, values, morals, manners, etc. My brain hurts when beginning to fathom the amount of thought that goes into raising a kid. What kind of nutrition you're going to feed them?; are you going to raise them Democrat or Republican or other?; are you going to allow them to choose their own religious preference?; what kind of education do you want them to be receiving?; how will you ensure their safety; the list can go for miles.

This post is not directly directed at Ms. Dunn, it is partially a response to many of the posts here. I am shocked that people think that just because she's been with the father for a few years, she has a loaded bank account, and as long as she can bounce back to her modeling career, all is fine and dandy.

People may tell me to get off my moral high-horse, or that I'm too conservative and traditional. I wanted to add my own perspective on the issue after reading the posts. It's is a discussion board after all, not the Jourdan Dunn fan board. Don't go all Twilight on me.

Wow. For all the negative commenters: If you don't think 19 is old enough to have a child, then don't have a child at 19. In other words, mind your own business, live your own life and allow other people to do the same without pelting them with your judgment and recriminations.

Jourdan seems like a smart girl, and from what I've read, she has the support of a loving family. I'm hopeful that she'll make an excellent mom, and wish her all the best.

thank you. i think people are being harsh on her about this situation.

eternitygoddess, you have raised some important issues that all parents have to address, and it won't be easy for Jourdan. i agree with a lot of things you have said.
rubydon, i don't think people are judging her in a harsh way, they are expressing their opinions, it is a free world after all, and people do have differing opinions.
perhaps some of you are putting Jourdan on a pedestal just because she is your favourite model. if this had happened to a model that you didn't like, i am sure you wouldn't be so nice....:innocent:

My mom was 19 when she had her first child but she was not a model like Jourdan and times have changed but I feel that it is far too early in her career for her to just have a baby. Who knows, she might just surprise us all and come back even better. It really is too early for us to really decide whether her career will end because of this. No matter what, I will still be a fan of her and her career^_^

i understand where you are coming from. but who are we to judge someone on how they live their life. and if any other model was pregnant i will be happy for them. because bringing a life in this world is more important then anything.

Of course we all wish Jourdan the best, health and happiness are paramount for pregnancy. It's true that fashion is fickle and she won't be a model forever and the will, a child is the most precious gift. However I think we all know where this frustration stems from; Finally after so many seasons there was this beautiful black model who ticked all the boxes and fit the aesthetic of every brand from Prada to Chanel, and we kinda looked to her to bring ethnicity to the forefront (which she did) but she still has sooo much further to go before she/Chanel or Sessilee aren't the only token ethnic girl per show. It's disappointing that her journey may be cut short. No doubt she'll still have offers but there's always the issue of how pregnancy will change her body (to something fashion won't accept) or that she'll be so engrossed in her child that she won't want to return. Anyway best of luck to her regardless, hopefully the child will bring more happiness to her than modelling ever could.

you may come back with a bang after pregnancy...
but it is ones priority after giving birth that will either make you or break you in this business or any business and career, for that matter.
so for Jourdan, she made a decision, and it's her decision to keep.

well, one thing about Jourdan she doesn't live and breath modeling ... like someone *AHEM*Chanel*Iman*.

I think it's too early to say her career is over. I personally hope not. Isabeli Fontana, for example, had two babies and came back even better and stronger. ^_^

Umm, I can't believe how many of you are passing such harsh, ignorant judgement on her. It's not up to you to decide if she's ready for a child, if she's mature enough, or anything. And it's very selfish to be upset that she's pregnant just because she might not model or have as strong a modelling career as before.

I wonder how you all would feel if you knew a bunch of people were hoping your mother wasn't really pregnant?

i don't think anyone here is passing judgement, they are just stating their opinions...there's a difference. personally i was pretty surprised about the news but i do think out of many girls her age, she comes off as one of the more mature and sensible (aside from her aparent engagement in unprotected sex) teens...at the same time i don't condone teen pregnancy..but what's done is done and she is obviously embracing it and is happy..and has the support of her family and friends, which can go a long way in a difficult situation...in regards to her career, i can't really comment one way or the other because it really is up in the air...although i do think this puts her career at risk...especially being a young, black model at the beginning of her career..and while, yes, she has accomplished a lot for a model her age, like someone mentioned before, the industry is fickle and models come and go as the seasons do...but i definitely wish jourdan and her bf the best of luck!

well i'm happy if she's happy-

well actually I'm not happy that I'm not going to see her on the runways for fall OR spring next year !! !! !

FINE jourdan go have a baby

<3 you still though and hope all goes well.

I'm not going to act like I'm not judging her because the fact of the matter is that she's 19 and pregnant, and in my mind no matter who you are that's not cute.

i think she sign a contract. but i think the pregnancy is holding it back a little.
if she signed a contract it would have been announced way back via a press release :flower:but if theres an official statement from maybelline then we'll know for sure , for example miranda kerr only did a campaign for maybelline but did not sign a contract :flower: Anyways I am a big fan of Jourdan and hope her the best B)

I think the show 16 and Pregnant should make it's shining debut in England soon.
