Junya Watanabe F/W 2023.24 Paris

one of my favourite shows this fashion month (of course), i absolutely want basically all of it. Some aspects of the styling could be improved.

The second last look is so so good - fresh, new and inventive, but warm and familiar at the same time. A crazy mash up of biker/punk/utilty garment/life buoy/haute couture....

Some of these looks are soooooooo gorgeous, and so smooth-looking, the stuff of dreams. I mean...

I have also recently fallen down the 'threat of nuclear attack' rabbit hole lol, and do predict this scare to take place later this year (I'm THAT paranoid ) so these masks are much better than what Amazon can offer!. And this parka is so good .. all of the jackets are actually really good, and god knows I loathe black leather motorcycle jackets and the people who wear them (excluding my mom).

The idea to turn bags into outerwear is well executed but I can't help but think the end result will be stiff and busy looking. My favourites therefor are the three down jacket looks towards the end of the show.

I remember when I first saw Margiela repurposing bags and suitcases into garments. It was fresh and surprising back then.

But this is just Junya´s version of a Margiela concept. And it doesn´t tell me anything at all. I don´t see he adds something new or different to it.

like the men's collection, he deconstructs tech & sporting wear with grand results
great work as always

I'm more with @jeanclaude here: I mean, it's technically brilliant, as we've come to expect from Junya, but I feel like I've seen this kind of clothes a tad too many times from him to really feel anything. It feels contrived at this point. Like for her creative godmother, I would prefer him to strip down his experiments and give me interesting clothes for people to wear rather than fabric concoctions for museums to collect.

This is his a good Junya Collection. It’s a known territory but it always works for me. But I wouldn’t buy any of this because he has perfected that before…

I feel like a lot of what Rick was trying this season, Junya actually did better.
