Junya Watanabe S/S 2023 Paris

When you are a Junya, you can "quote" Margiela and get away with it.
I bless this guy every season, even when I don't like his collections, because he's here to remind us that technique still has a value.
I wish also Comme were still interested in doing interesting, progressive clothes that someone can wear (JW, take note) instead of random fabric concoctions.

I appreciate him putting a few male models on the runway as for too long, his men's and womenswear designs have been too far apart from another - You kinda always wanted something a little bit more designed from Junya as a proper men's fashion customer and here you get a little bit of that. I hope it's more than a one-off and the following seasons will see both the men's and womenswear designed and presented together as a cohesive story.

It´s very "80s Blitz kids and gothics meet japanese manga characters". I can´t stand shoulder pads! And some looks make me think of Madonna circa 1984...nope!!

Great attitude in this collection. Has more punk than anything Vivienne Westwood has done is YEARS! Perhaps a couple too many shoulder-pads in the collection but I can overlook it because they're actually set in really well and work with the looks.
