Kanye West Douche Watch 2009: Taylor Swift Edition

The Guardian gives a run-down of some of his "moments":

Taylor Swift might have been Kanye'd last night, but she isn't the first musician to be caught in the rapper's firing line. In fact, the hip-hop star's been making a nuisance of himself since 2004.

2004: West allegedly walked out of the American Music awards claiming he was "robbed" when country singer Gretchen Wilson won Best New Artist instead of him. "I was the best artist of the year," he told reporters, claiming a conspiracy was at work.

2005: West goes off-script live on NBC during a Hurricane Katrina benefit concert to tell America "George Bush doesn't care about black people." Mike Myers's astounded expression says it all.

2005: It's not just MTV awards that get West all riled up. Prior to the 2005 Grammys, the rapper warned there would be a "real problem" if he went away empty-handed. Artists who claimed to "love everybody but themselves" were just engaging in "cliched media training", apparently. Seems he was just getting warmed up.

2006: West delivered an expletive-ridden tirade when Justice vs Simian scooped the Best Video award at the MTV Europe Music awards in Copenhagen. But Touch the Sky had Pam Anderson in it! West jumped across canyons! Afterwards the rapper responded to criticism by saying: "People were so surprised at what I did. I'm more surprised people thought I had changed."

2006: An interview with Rolling Stone stokes more controversy and Fox News get to run the immortal headline "Kanye West poses as Jesus, says he's addicted to p*rn."

2007: At the MTV Video Music Awards the rapper apparently became "upset" when he had to perform his song Stronger from the Palms' Hugh Hefner Sky Villa instead of the main stage. When he walked away empty-handed after receiving five nominations, he reportedly yelled: "That's two years in a row, man … I'm trying hard, man, I have the number one record, man."

2008: Ye's ever-expanding blog becomes the outlet for his capital-letter frustration with just about everyone. In reponse to his arrest after an altercation with a photographer. "Let us not forget the paps killed princess Diana" he writes.

2009: Someone, somewhere, goes a step too far when they assume West's identity on Twitter. "I DON'T HAVE A ****ING TWITTER… WHY WOULD I USE TWITTER???" he writes. Why indeed, when there are so many awards shows to vent your opinion at?

2009: "South Park murdered me last night", writes West, after the rapper was depicted on the show as a gay man attracted only to male fish. In a rare and apparently fleeting moment of self-awareness, he writes. "As long as people think I act like a b*tch this type of **** will happen to me."

2009: The rapper elicits a chorus of boos when he bounds onstage during country singer Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Best Video and declares "Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!"

You people are so naive! LOL
It was all staged, and her sad little face, like poor rich girl Taylor, what a tragedy, and Kanye incident, they all staged it so MTV and VMA's can get GREAT publicity and ratings!

Hell, I didn't even know VMA's was yesterday until this sh*** hasn't been on all news and tweets today.....do you all really have to mention Kanye in your tweets today, people around the world?Like he cares! LOL.
But good job, MTV, good job! That is how you do it!Learn from the best, PR machine!
And pals this is a good write-up about this so unimportant moment in the lives of rich ones.Read it.

ps.Taylor in a gown?Really, Taylor?Wow, just wow.Total fail.

Really, Taylor has nothing to be embarassed about. Everybody is on her side. Whether it was staged or not, it was good entertainment. Even if it were, I don't think Taylor was apart of it.

Ugh, what a total fool. Taylor is gorgeous and I can't wait to see her in November!

I'm loving the celeb response to this:

Pink: Kanye west is the biggest piece of **** on earth. Quote me. (perez hilton blog)

And this is from Kelly Clarkson's blog:

Dear Kanye,

What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough?? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we’re all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like ****. I mean, I’ve seen you do some pretty ****ty things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, ******* ways. It’s absolutely fascinating how much I don’t like you. I like everyone. I even like my ******* ex that cheated on me over you…which is pretty odd since I don’t even personally know you. The best part of this evening is that you weren’t even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a moon man that much of a life goal?? You can have mine if it will shut you up. Is it that important, really??

I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and I was excited for her…so why can’t you be?? I’m not even mad at you for being an ***hole…I just pity you because you’re a sad human being.

On a side note, Beyonce has always been a class act and proved again tonight that she still is. Go TEXAS!!

Taylor Swift, you outsell him ….that’s why he’s bitter. You know I love your work! Keep it up girl!

KC

Sweet heart... We are naive? Maybe you are the one that's naive? Just because that article says its staged does not mean it is... I'm not ruling out the possibility that it is though.

First of all Kanye is an idiot staged or not staged... He looks like a tool if he actually meant it, and he still looks like one if it was staged... Also I don't understand why he would agree to stage something that will make him look like a d**k and get his fans hate him... It's like saying the Chris and Rihanna thing was staged (except obviously not as drastic).

And yes you could be right, but then again you could also be wrong... Don't be calling people naive when the situation isn't crystal clear. And what's wrong with people tweeting about it, people love something to talk about, so let them there is no point of you criticizing what people want to talk about or what people believe, after all the country I live in is a free country..:flower:

Taylor speaks.
[On that moment] “Well, I was standing on stage because I was really excited because I had just won the award, and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage. And then I wasn’t so excited anymore after that. I’ve been getting so many text messages and everybody’s been really nice. So I’ve had a really, really fun night. It’s been interesting definitely. It’s definitely been an interesting night… I don’t know him, and I’ve never met him, so… I don’t want to start anything because I had a great night tonight.”

[On Beyoncé calling her onto the stage to finish her speech] “They told me to stand by the side of the stage, and I didn’t really know what was going to go down, but I thought it was so wonderful and gracious of her to do what she’s always done. She’s always been a great person before anything else. Before the talented artist, the superstar, she’s always been a great person and I just, I thought I couldn’t love Beyoncemore tonight, than tonight.”

The quote I highlighted made me laugh.

He's such an idiot. It's just ridiculous what he did. Beyonce looked mortified as he sounded off.

I enjoy Pink's comment. My favourite part's the "Quote me" bit. Ha.

Odds are 1000:1 that someone other than West blogged that "apology".....like the bad-dressing girlfriend.

What an idiot. And to do it to Taylor Swift (who is totally adored by most of the media - so would obviously lead to a ton of backlash) makes him even more of an idiot.

I love Kelly's "Did you not get hugged enough?"

Katy Perry had this to say on her Twitter page:

“F**K U KANYE. IT'S LIKE U STEPPED ON A KITTEN.”

WTF was that? Anyway I notice he's been more unhinged than usual since his mom died...

Beyonce is a definite class act.

I actually loathe all Beyonce's videos, there is something cringe inducing about them that as a woman puts me off, so to me is even more risible his speech. I do not like Taylor's music, but she was clearly the star of the night(and the only one well dressed) I guess that was too much for Kanye and his skanky girlfriend.

OMG. I don't even like either Kanye West, Taylor Swift OR Beyonce. But I was so shocked when my sister told me that a grown man had gone up on stage on national TV and totally humiliated a sweet teenager. Seriously! What a load of ****! But at least Beyonce showed how gracious she is. It was a really kind gesture.

I don't think it had much to do with Beyonce really. Taylor says in her quote she was ushered to the side of the stage to wait.

Beyonce didn't know she was going to win the award before that point, so I think it's more likely that it was a move made by MTV.

Aw poor Taylor her face was just shocked like what the hell!? Kanye was so immature and rude.

gee !

that man has a serious issue, indeed !

completely inappropriate ! and who the hell he thinks he is to come on stage and ruin this young girl moment ?!

what has beyoncé said about this ?

i've watched the video ....
INSANE !
:ninja:

is that an artistic performance ? a sort of solo riot ?
