Hollywood powerhouse Kerry Washington is not just a talented actress, the thespian has made a name for herself in the philanthropic world as well, and that’s why she was featured (along with actress Kristin Davis) in The Hollywood Reporter‘s special Philanthropy issue. Kerry supports several causes including the arts and women empowerment. She’s currently an advocate for V-day and serves on President Obama’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. K-Wash frequently speaks on the Hill defending programming in schools to promote talent.
In the interview with THR, Kerry explained where her lifelong commitment to the arts and passion is derived from, saying:
“I grew up a latchkey kid in the Bronx, so the arts were like my third parent. I truly believe through the humanities we learn how to better understand each other and ourselves.”
