KIMBERLY STEWART HAS LIVER DISEASE

ROD STEWART's 27-year-old daughter KIMBERLY is suffering from a liver disease caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
The 61-year-old rocker reveals doctors have told Kimberly her liver is badly deteriorated and she risks putting her life in danger if she doesn't stop drinking completely.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Stewart says, "She just discovered that she had a very serious liver illness from drinking too much.
"She said to me, 'Dad, I'm half Scottish - I thought I was allowed to drink a lot.' "I said, 'No darling, it doesn't work like that.'" Stewart claims Kimberly has seen a liver specialist and stopped drinking and smoking three months ago.
She isn't the first of Rod's children to have battled with booze - his 26-year-old son SEAN has undergone rehab for drink and drug problems.

She must have been drinking excessively if her liver is damaged at age 27! :o

This is awful, but my first reaction was to laugh. Oh dear. I am going to a special hell.

I really feel bad for her, liver damage does not sound fun. Just from what I've read in the article she has a chance to save her life so she's luckier than others in this situation.

I agree with Heroin though, how much has she been drinking that it caused liver damage at 27?!

Hopefully Kimberly's hard-partying friends like Paris and Lindsay will learn from her mistake.

That is the first thing that I thought too! Liver damage from drinking at age 27? I don't know too much about liver damage though...

She only has herself to blame. However why is her father talking about it to a journalist some things are meant to stay private.

I'm not really a fan of her, but that's sucks  :( I hope she gets better soon!

I don't like her (although I am a big fan of her father), but I wish her all the best.

It's not uncommon. For some reason young people get liver problems more easily than older ppl. Also, women process alcohol less efficiently than men, so they need less alcohol to get drunk (they have a lower level of an alcohol dehydrogenase isozyme).

Agreed:innocent:

It is uncommon to develop alcoholic liver disease at only 27 years old. The average age at diagnosis is around 50. While developing liver disease at that age isn't necessarily rare, it does indicate that Kimberly must have been living a very very exuberant lifestyle.

Wooow, I know many people who have liver issues, but it usually comes up at around the age of 40 or later. She must have REALLY been drinking.

Yeah, that's true. I should have said that it's more common than you might think. ^_^ I think it indicates that she's been excessive, like you say. But not that she must have been excessive *lol* could be predisposition.

This isn't shocking to me, as she does overdrink and party an excessive amount...

but no one deserves this. I'm sorry for her and her family.

I don't know much about her....however this is sad and kind of pathetic. Liver damage at 27? Geez! Hope she learns something from this and she gets healthy again.

She's since denied it and said her dad was just talking rubbish, but that she was told to cut back on alcohol by her doctor.
