Gwen Stefani Had 'No Doubt' About Her Fashion Line Success

Pop star Gwen Stefani helped close New York's Fashion Week on Friday with the runway debut of her L.A.M.B. fashion line, adding a bit of flash to a week of mostly passive styles. Sony sponsored this show, and it made the most of the media moment. Before the presentation began, cars were covered with drop cloths embossed with PSP, references to Sony's PlayStation Portable.
Designers brought out soft colors, simple silhouettes and tailored looks this week, reflecting a national mood marked by apprehensiveness over the war in Iraq, elevated gasoline prices and rising interest rates.
While the usual glitz, glamour and celebrity sightings were all still visible, some in the fashion crowd recognized the devastation in the Gulf Coast region, where Hurricane Katrina left hundreds dead and thousands homeless.
After the first runway presentation of her sportswear collection L.A.M.B. ("Love. Angel. Music. Baby.") On Friday night, singer Gwen Stefani stepped out to take her bows like a triumphant prizefighter. There was nothing shy about her celebratory prance. And there was no humility as she mouthed the words to her song "Hollaback Girl," which was blasting in the background.
She lingered with satisfaction in front of the photographers. And the crowd -- packed full of fans, many of them bearing press credentials -- screamed in delight. It was a far cry from the typical audience response, which is usually polite, congratulatory and hurried.
