Legs - Hair Removal

^^ my mum bought me this one as a christmas gift.. she insists on using it.. not because i dont shave my legs, its just i usually use a razor (i know, i know) and she says its time to do something about it.

scared as hell. i tried it once a couple of years ago and said enough after one bloody leg..

i am going to use it tomorrow. fingers crossed.

ladies first... ;))

for god's sake, i wanted to scream my lungs out. its not even funny. it hurts like hell. but. wanna be a woman, be one, right? f*ck.

I couldn't find the one Ida recommended to me, but I've now got the Braun Silk-epil Xelle 5170. It has this little light on it to help you see the hair (sometimes natural or artificial light in the room isn't enough). I'm very happy with it.

i have BRAUN Silk-epil Xelle 5270

simply love it!

mmBop, that's the one I got! I like the light on it.

So I have since gone back over my legs since there were some short hairs and the like....I was in too much pain the first time to do a really good job. And the pain has lessened significantly, which I'm happy about.

Perhaps it's also less painful if the hairs are shorter.

Mine looks the same as that, only it's green. I didn't bother to check the actual number so maybe what I've typed is wrong.

You can try putting ice on your legs before epilating. It can help with the pain. If that's not enough, there are numbing creams you should be able to buy over the counter. A bit extreme, but if it is that painful and you really want to use it...

i've been using Silk'n SenEpil. it is a gadget for hair removal at home, it is amazing girls!
It has being working since last months and i almost have no hair on my legs.
this is the web www.silkn.com and it is going to be featured in QVC this 13th at 2pm EST.
Take a look and tell me what u think.

Waxing, most definitely- on an average of every three weeks, though I go without if I'm wearing a lot of trousers or long skirts. I also don't moisturise for a couple of days beforehand, it makes ripping out the hair difficult. It doesn't even hurt much, I've been getting it done since age 12 (yes, I'm a gorilla).

I can live without having my hair done, or without nice clothes, but I refuse to shave, my legs feel like a cactus after I do. I only shave if it's absolutely necessary at short notice for me to have bare legs all of a sudden.

Hmm... I'm sceptical. I've tried numerous similar devices during my teens because I was desperate to get rid of all the unwanted hair I have, though they were more in the electrolysis area. They still looked very similar, promised the same heavenly results (permanent hair removal) and were advertised in an identical manner. They were painful, expensive, time-consuming and none of them worked. I should have known when they were not advertised everywhere that they probably weren't as successful as they claimed to be. If such a miracle actually existed at a reasonable price for permanent hair removal, it would be world famous and the people selling it would be rich!

Whenever I use my epilator on dry legs it always sends my skin into a rash. Like lots of tiny little red spots, they aren't lumpy or anything but just wondering if anyone gets that too? It happens if I shave my legs dry too (only done this the once as I missed a bit!). What do I do?

That happens to me sometimes too, if you're looking for a way to soothe the rash I suggest aloe vera, or a product containing aloe vera. There's no solution for it but not to shave legs while dry.

i just bought a braun one for 85 euros. i love it already! =D the only thing that bothers me is that it's a bit loud.

I use a Panasonic Epilator. Can be used dry or during bath time. After I bought this, I can't live without it. It pays for itself over and over. I never have to waste money on home waxing kit, professional waxing or razors anymore. Has a shaver for the bikini line, which is a good bonus as well. I only have to use it every 3-4 weeks.

The pain is normal the first time. If you continue to use it it will gradually decrease.

Did you epilate when the hairs were very long? I usually do that and sometimes it doesn't take out the entire hair because it was too long. It should mention an 'optimal length' in your instruction booklet. It should be long enough for the epilator to grip, but not so long that it might end up only pulling on the tip and it snaps above the surface.

The red bumps are also normal: I always have this after epilating from the follicles being irritated. If I epilate the evening before, these marks are usually gone the next morning.

Being itchy is not normal in my experience, but I wonder if it's because it is the first time you've used it? Maybe it's all to do with the hair follicles being irritated? The only thing I can recommend is to try epilating after having showered. The warmth opens up the hair follicles and this means the hairs are pulled out more easily.

^^my skin gets irritated really easily and i also have the red bumps right after it, so now i take a bath right after i epilated my legs and it really soothes my skin. after that use a moisturizing lotion (i use a very light self tanner) and the next morning it's mostly gone. nothing harsh though which would only irritate your skin

the itching i still get in the back of my knees sometimes...you just have to ignore it, i know it's hard but it will only irritate your skin further. and the pain and itching will definitely decrease, it doesn't hurt me anymore at all

oh and i think you aren't supposed to tan for 24h after you epilated
