LINDA EVANGELISTA has spoken out for the first time over the media storm surrounding her son with PPR ceo and chairman Francois-Henri Pinault. The supermodel had always kept her four-year-old son's paternity a secret until July last year, when it emerged that the PPR boss was his father.

"I need to protect him," she told Love magazine in its spring/summer 2012 issue. "I never, ever used my son for publicity. He'll have his say one day if he wants it. He'll have the last word. He has time to defend himself."

Despite having famously once said, "I never get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day", the Canadian beauty is remarkably modest about her wages.

"I would be astonished by it," she said, "I was astonished by it. I still am, absolutely." "It is the fee that is given for my services, my image, and not me as a person. It's Linda Evangelista."
