London College of Fashion

Hiya, I'm wanting to take either the BA Journalism course or the Public relations course in 2012 (I'm halfway through my first year at college!)

I was wondering if there's any specific work experience they require you to have, or prefer for you to have. Obviously I'm getting as much as I can until I apply, but what do you think i should mainly focus on? UCAS will be fine buuut, any advice on what I can work on? ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated because I'm bricking it. Thanks :)

Oooooh I've got an interview! 12th Feb! Retail branding and visual branding. What should I take with me? The letter is a bit vague.

hey, im on the fda for fashion marketing + promotion
its basically a 2 year course, then if you get the grades, you do a bridging, then do your last year - basically end up with a BA.
so far it is a good course, im on my second term of the first year right now,
marketing was a bit boring, and our project was on marks and spencers, but now we are doing PR and we have a really interesting project
it is good fun and stuff, but sometimes feels a bit disorganised, especially now with campus moving, we dont exactly know where we will be next month for lectures haha
but it is a good school, and has a very good name (obviously) xxx
i dont know about applying as home status, cause im from hk and i pay overseas, so i pay A LOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT more.
but from my friend who applied as home status, apparntly its quite tricky to even get an interview sometimes especially with the arts schools, as there are lots of applicants and not a lot of places x

hey i applied for the ba in fashion promotion (i chose i dif course though), and my friend is on the ba journalism
there isnt any specific requirements work wise, just grades, and they ask you to do an essay on one of two questions, you can pick, and also a good personal statement.
no need to worry at all, i did two interviews for two different courses and they were super nice

yeh i paid international fees too.
but trust me atthe end its all so worth it!

theyre moving campus?! from bond street u mean? i thought it was such an ideal location!

yeah i thought they were moving to elephant and castle a while ago?

i still havent got my (second) interview letter yet for photography

i think that was just a rumor for now. the bond street building is getting torn down and the whole building was transfered to a sh*thole in sheperd's bush where they already had a campus for hair & make up (and other courses). the campus is HORRIBLE, depressing looking, and we in the journalism course have lectures in this big photography studio and we're not even given tables.

i'm a student rep and complained about the fact that the building didn't adapt for the arrival of 1000+ students and i was told they have no plans to renovate the building, instead, all their money is going on a new building in holborn where admin and some lecture rooms will be.

ARGHHHH i'm seriously only staying there cos i'm already half way through. i hate this uni!

elephant and castle?!?! NOOOOOO WAY! ew.
thats where LCC is too. ugh.

Wow, I had no idea!
its just left me in shock!

oh girl, holborns still better than elephant and castle, no? chin up hun :)
but as a students rep, you can start a whole protest!
i HATED the place for hair and make up. my mate did a year there.
so i feel ur sentiments about that.

I miss london! :( lol

aw :) :)

i'm ok with holborn but they literally said it's an admin building (because student housing, study support, everything is in bond st atm) so they're only giving us a couple of spare rooms for lectures.

i don't understand why they can't move the desks etc from the closed building to sheperd's bush! they're clearly putting the staff's comfort before the paying students'.

oh and we only first heard about our move to sheperd's bush in the end of last year..by a lecturer that was really annoyed at the sudden move. basically they knew it for ages and only told us online when they showed the new timetable for this term. AND new students had no clue, it still said in the website that the campus was bond street!!! so they were basically seduced by the idea of studying in central west london and fooled

i am so glad i just did short courses.
i applied for a fashion design degree starting this year and i am glad im notgoing now.
bond street is right near marble arch (where my house is) so i would have been furious.

im just going to do the degree locally now.

do u live far from central?

i live in bethnal green so it's about 45 min on the tube for me (to sheperd's bush), including walking.

but i know of people that live in crystal palace and hackney that take like, 3 hours to and from uni every day! and we're in everyday, so we literally get home so tired we can't even think of uni work hahaha

OMG thats horrible. i hate commuting anyway and i cant imagine how tired u must get!
hackney.. thats east london right? ouff..

how long till u graduate?

wow that is bad. i mean if i ever got in there i would not even be living in london but that only takes me an hour - 3 HOURS IN london?!!

^ i'm half way through my second year, hence why i'm not quitting...i've invested too much money in it hahaha.

yeah the commuting is pretty bad, plus it's in the middle of a residential street and it looks like a mental hospital, it's VERY cold all the time hahahah oh dear

^It takes 3 hours? I live in Hackney and I can get to Lime Grove in 40 minutes, and JPs in 25.
I agree that Lime Grove look slike a mental hospital, I'm glad I don't have to go there anymore.

i meant 3h to and from. this girl i know lives in like, clapton, needs to get a bus to bethnal green for 20min then get on the train

i don't know, that's what she told me! haha

^Yeah that sounds right actually. The bus to Bethnal Green is so slow in the morning.
I'm so glad I live in Hackney and my course campus is Mare Street :p
