Help! Phone Interview

today I received an email about the phone interview, I read that some of you already had one but for what I understood it was focused on the portfolio. I don't have a portfolio as the course I applied for is Access to the HE Diploma: Fashion Media and Communication and its not needed. What do you think that they will be asking me????? I want to be prepared! Thanks in advance :flower:

Anyone who's ever been at the Fashion Journalism interview? :flower:

for the fashion journalism interview it pretty much depends whether you're an international student or not.

for english student i know you're asked to answer a couple of questions and write an essay

in my case as an international student i sent her an essay after the interview but i left pretty assured i'd passed - even though it was just a quick chat. i also know of a girl that had a phone interview, which doesn't make any sense if it's a writing course, but oh well, she pays more than 10 grand a year;)

Thanks your replying!

Okay, I see. I'm from sweden so I'm an EU-student which means I will pay the same fee as english students! but sounds like it's easier for international students to get in tho..

I'm so nervous as my interview is in less than ten days.

Hello! I'm really interested in applying at LCF. I'm one school year away from graduating with a BA in Communication, Major in Advertising and Public Relations.

I am very interested in Fashion Buying and Merchandising or Fashion Marketing and Promotion. I would have to apply for a foundation degree, as opposed to a postgraduate or further education degree right? I figured this is so, since I don't have any knowledge about merchandising or marketing that's particularly for fashion.

Would anyone be kind enough to clear this up, and tell me what they think of these courses and LCF in general? I've read some unpleasant things about the school in this forum, and I really want to know what I'm getting into, as I don't want to waste any money. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi, I am currently doing the foundation course at LCF.

we started on the 21st september and then spent 2 weeks trying to get to know our classmates with some workshops such as exploring the area, etc.

then when the course really started, we would have to bring an object which would be the starting point of our development on our A3 sketchbook.

the course is based on 1.5 days of workshops where you get to do a bit of textiles/fabric manipulation and 3D, and then we have :
Photoshop/ Design Studio/ visual studies / cultural studies / Life Drawing.

We are all asked to write a reflective journal as well.

We are now gonna be starting a new project next Monday. Each student could either take FDT (Fashion), 3D, Fashion Image (photography, styling) or Textiles.

In my case, I took FDT because I am interested in doing womenswear next year.

So every student having taken the FDT workshop, will need to buy a men's jacket, cut it in halves and then deconstruct one half.
the purpose of this project is to study the different parts of a jacket and also, getting started into the womenswear/menswear/tayloring industry.

Our assessment will be from the 7th to the 11th December. During that week, my tutor will decide whether I can take the womenswear pathway or not.
the thing is, we are 400 people doing foundation in LCF. and even though not everybody will be taking that pathway, there will still be a good amount of people willing to do womenswear. that's why they will have to limit it into 90 places ( I think its 90, less than 100 at least).

Also, I would say you DO NEED to be amazing at drawing, and also at 3D.
Be aware, womenswear is all about playing with the shapes of the body so you need to be able to work in other dimension, be detailed, be everything really.

I hope this helped, Ana

xx

Thank you! you helped a lot

I had an interview and have been accepted for the foundation course. After reading your description I'm really looking forward to it and knowing there are many focuses in terms of projects and the areas of fashion they focus on, I am feeling much more confident and relieved.

Has anyone ever done the BA fashion journalism at LCF? What is it like and what's the interview like? And what are they looking for before hand, work experience and GCSE's + A Levels, ect.

So....Guys and Gals I have an interview next Friday for Styling and Photography...
Anyone have any tips? Portfolio size and amount to bring?
What questions they may ask?

Im reeeeally set to nail this interview. Many people have mentioned that wearing the odd designer item may help too..SO im thinking I may go shopping!

noooo, that's so ridiculous. you'll notice that the best teachers don't even look like they're wearing designer....they still get a teacher's wage hahaha

i'd say wear something that shows who you are but is also a bit dressy, basically that shows that you put some effort. doesn't matter if it's all primark!

Ah ok..Ive got my outfit sorted for Friday now
Bit of high street with vintage
Ive just heard that they can be extremely biased towards all sorts of things I want to have as much chance as possible haha
fingers crossed !

Fashion Management

Hi, I'm looking to apply for Fashion Management. Has anyone does the course? What do you think of it?

It has now been a month since a I received an email from LCF saying that they have received my application, but I still have not heard anything:unsure: How long does it usually take before they contact you? I applied as an international student through ucas, for the fashion management.

Meanwhile I have accepted a course at London Met. So if anyone needs a roomie, let me know. :flower:

Master in Strategic fashion marketing

I will study a master in Strategic fashion marketing at LCF this fall! Anyone else? I will begin to look for an apartment soon and would love to share with someone!! You can email me at [email protected]

Has anyone attended lcf's access course (fashion)/fashion portfolio?
Any personal review of this course would be greatly appreciated!! :)

How does LCF compare to AIU (American InterContinental University in London)?
I'm interested in Fashion Marketing. The thing I like about AIU is it has combined Fashion Marketing and design BA degree, which I prefer and I wouldn't want to do two separate degrees. I don't know much about AIU they are phoning me tonight, so I can ask questions. I'm international but a UK citizen. LCF sounds like the best place to study fashion in London? Is that right?
I don't know what uni to choose. I just know I want it in London.
And those who study in London, on campus accommo or off campus?

Thanks

I've come across AIU online, and what I've read about it from people who have actually applied or attended sounded all too negative. The school seems seedy and I think terribly expensive as well. I saw an article here, and I thought I'd share it with you.

I'm actually planning to take up a postgraduate study in fashion management next year, and LCF is definitely my number choice. I'm not sure if it would be the best place to study fashion in London, but it's certainly up there, I suppose.

Wow.. Thanks for that.
It's so hard deciding on a uni that has good facilities and tutors when your the other side of the world. LCF seems to have a good rep, so I feel alot safer.

Does anyone have an interest in Fashion Pr/Styling ?
I am an international applicant trying to see how it is.
is this school really a great school that will for sure give me what I need to get a major job after?

I was about to apply for the Fashion Marketing @ AIU. But my friend will be finishing her first year this summer, and she tells me: DO NOT APPLY.
The first couple of months she thought was great, but as the months passes, she realized they are more interested in the money.

As a substitute I would recommend fashion-studies at London Metropolitan University.

Now I have a question, I have been approved for at telehpone interview at London College of Fashion, fashion mangement.
What kind of quiestions should I prepare for ? :woot:
