I would not recommend LCF to anyone really if you are serious about having a career in fashion, i'm about to go into my third year of Buying and Merchandising and haven't been too impressed so far. I can't speak for most of the courses (i.e. the BAs) but FdAs are pretty poorly run. Your basically expected to teach yourself everything which would be justified if the teachers would help you when you get something wrong, but they don't really.
In the two years I've been on the course there's been several problems, such as our merchandising teacher leaving us for to go to Mauritius for two weeks on business before a really important hand in date; the college moving from davies street to high holburn during term time leaving a lot of people without computer facilities for a week or so; 0 help getting work placements; 3 terms out a total of 6 spent doing projects on Ted Baker; constantly having our teachers chopped and changed, and substituted; mistakes in marking and grades, for example comments that we have left out sections we were supposed to include in our work when they're clearly in there - indicating our work is not properly read.
I know the intentions of the college are good, my course director agrees with me on a lot of these points and they are improving the course by getting full-time teachers in but unfortunately i'm too late benefit.
Basically, the main problem with our course is that every teacher's primary job is not teaching, they all have outside jobs that they prioritise over teaching meaning that they end up having time off/ignore emails/don't care about your progress. They just want something impressive to put on their CV and the college probably pay them extortionate amounts to be there. I'm sure these people are very good at their jobs but they haven't got a clue how to teach and definitely have never been trained to teach in any way. However, if you want to impress people the name London COllege of Fashion alone will (undeservedly) get you noticed in the industry...
