Even as times passes, she becomes more lovely  She looks phenomenal for Paula Cahen D'anvers.

The pretty people came out in full force on Saturday night for Australian art dealer Andy Valmorbida’s second annual Labor Day Weekend fête in Southampton. This was no ordinary end-of-summer barbecue, though: Valmorbida convinced artist Raphael Mazzucco to launch his new book “The Collected Art Book,” which boasts an introduction by Carine Roitfeld, at the party.

Lonneke Lessons: Ralph Lauren Love

lonnekeralphlauren.jpg

I sat front row at Ralph Lauren’s show this season–what an early one! The whole Lauren family was there so early too, so no complaining from me. The show was inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark with a white runway and a Moroccan lamp hanging in a doorway. Some of the models looked like princesses pulled out of the Sahara. Valentina opened the show, looking amazing in gold sequined harem pants, a khaki blouse with a ripped sleeve, and two brown leather belts. Arlenis Sosa wore my favorite look, a long skirt, lacy top and blazer, all white, but the harem pants are a must-have for me! Later, I learned the green dress Valentina wore is actually made of a tent! That night, I was dreaming about my prince in the desert. Sigh…

Lessons from Lonneke: Hanging Out and Up with David Blaine

Master magician and stunt performer David Blaine is just hanging…and hanging! Hanging upside down that is. For an unbelievable 60 hours. Try doing it for 60 seconds. It makes your blood build up in your head and you’ll feel as if your eyes could potentially pop out at any moment. David, who besides his magic, is famous for doing ultra long underwater breath holds, starving himself for a month in a glass cage above the Thames in London, being buried alive and encased in ice for three days is still pushing his limits. 60 hours upside down, can you believe it? If you don’t go watch him live! This is all happening in Wollman Rink.
Mr. Trump was so kind to give the space to Mr. Blaine for his latest stunt. I have been around David, and he mentions it is as hard as all the stunts together, times 10. It’s so hard he’s even considering this one to be the last! As much as he likes to do it, and as much as it gives good data for the different doctors who study him, will this be the last one for real? We have to see. I just hope he doesn’t get permanent damage from this one. His eyes are swollen and his head hurts, so when is The End for this one? Tonight at 9 p.m. his new two-hour David Blaine: Dive of Death magic special will be broadcasted on ABC and at 11 p.m., he is ending his attempt with an amazing climax (he doesn’t even want to tell what it is!) all live on TV. So if you can’t make it yourself to Central Park, stay tuned!

Lessons From Lonneke: London Town Love!

lonnekelondon.jpg

I was in London to do an editorial for a British magazine, so of course I had to stay in a hotel. I have stayed in many hotels in London before, but never had a favorite…until now. It’s not that I ask much. I just want a soft pillow, a mattress that doesn’t give me pains and a great shower. Oh, and I really appreciate a gym, so I can sweat all those dirty layers of makeup off after a day of hard work. The St. Martin’s Lane is my new favorite. Not only because its right in the center of everything in Soho, close to all the plays, and not because Bungalow 8 is located in the basement (I found out after I left, I am so not well informed about anything in London!). But mostly I like this hotel, because the people are friendly, rooms are very well thought out, room service is fast and good, and you can go to the big gym (Gym Box) next door for free. I worked out while a DJ was spinning, well that was a new experience! And on top of that the highest floors have amazing views, but this hotel is also hip and the place to be! So next time it’s possible when you stay here, you see me walking by in the lobby, coming from the gym, sweating and with a red head!
