Louis Vuitton dresses mobile
phone from Bang & Olufsen
Bang & Olufsen’s new mobile phone, Serene, is presented to the public for the
first time at the Louis Vuitton Grand store opening at the Champs Elysées in Paris
at a prestigious event in October 2005.
This is the first time you get a chance to see, hear and feel Serene, a new
minimalistic mobile phone concept developed in cooperation between Danish
high-end consumer electronics manufacturer Bang & Olufsen and Korean high-
tech mobile phone manufacturer Samsung Electronics.
Dressed by Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton and Bang & Olufsen, loyal to the vision of their founders, share the
same passion for innovation and modernity. From the start, both companies have
established a tradition for creating state of the art products that use the newest
materials and technologies, while paying careful attention to elegance, beauty
and durability.
To accompany the new mobile phone, Serene, Louis Vuitton has developed a
leather case specifically and exclusively for Bang & Olufsen.
The leather case contains a main compartment for Serene and a front
compartment for a Bluetooth headset. It has a removable leather necklace
and a belt loop, so you have different options for carrying your mobile phone.
When available, the Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth headset will offer the market’s
best sound reproduction as well as utilise innovative antenna and microphone
technology.
Exquisite materials and craftsmanship
The leather case is made in the most exquisite Nomade leather. The Nomade
series is selected for some exceptional items of luggage, bags, shoes and
accessories. Louis Vuitton has chosen the best cowhide leathers with a totally
>1
flawless surface. Tanned with plant extracts, natural cowhide leather develops an
elegant copper-toned patina with time. The lining is made of micro fibres and
the brushed palladium metallic pieces add a final touch to the total impression.
The leather case totally dresses Serene, yet allows easy operation and access to
all features available.
Designers at Bang & Olufsen and Louis Vuitton have worked together on several
other projects on previous occasions. Bang & Olufsen’s digital MP3 player, the
BeoSound 2 was another project where our designers met and an exclusive
leather case designed by Louis Vuitton emerged.
Display of the combined Louis Vuitton and Bang & Olufsen product
As a result of the development of the two leather cases and as a reflection of
the relationship between Louis Vuitton and Bang & Olufsen, the combined
products, meaning the Serene mobile phone in it’s Louis Vuitton leather case
and the BeoSound2 MP3 player in it’s unique leather case, will be displayed
in selected Louis Vuitton stores as well as in selected Bang & Olufsen stores in
Europe.

Not entirely true. You can't get the stuff that sounds like B&O at Best Buy, but there is definitely stuff out there that sounds much better than B&O for less money.

This cell phone thing is stupid, though.

Isnt B&O like one of the most energy efficient lines of appliances? And isnt the design worth the $$$? Still... collaborations are interesting .. and this being a menage-a-trois between B&O+LV+Samsung ... its an interesting combo!
