Louis Vuitton S/S 2010 : Lara Stone by Steven Meisel

i just can't imagine the average monied mall rat veering into their local vuitton shop based on these ads....seriously.

i like the forest theme and the pegions too.they're artistic.
beautiful.much better than madonna!

this ad campaign lacks almost everything i love about good vuitton campaigns. i think back to that glorious campaign in the desert with all the supes or even last fall's campaign at the world's fair. this just doesn't seem to have the high gloss luxury feel i associate with a status brand like vuitton.

Could not agree more........and the pics are just very messy and way too busy.
I find myself looking at the birds etc, and not near enough notice of the clothes.
Saying all that Lara herself looks gorgeous.

The second one in #138 is okay but the first one just makes it look like you've been looking through the bushes at her for too long.. she's yawning..

I've just realized how much do I hate the tails, they're disgusting.

Especially in relation to the concept of the ads. I half expect a real fox to curl up against Lara.

All photo look same very boring and the bird look very false

Lara saves this campaign. Without her, it'd be terrible.

Agreed. I like it because it has Lara in it. But the background is such a mess. I don't know where to look.

I can actually SEE the clothes.
And it's not bad. This is what ad campaigns should do.
I'm glad they didnt do the runway styling, it was AWFUL.

This looks absolutely messy and for some reason it looks like she is in the middle of trash dump. -_-

My thoughts exactly! The first shot in particular, the styling is such a mishmash, and I actually prefer the clothing on the runway model than Lara here. Not that I particularly like clothing on anyone -- the collection is awful.

Overall, this campaign feels uninspired -- as uninspired as the collection, one might say. It's as if they wanted to move away from the Madonna ones as far as possible, but without thinking it through. Everything seems slapped together, and Lara looks more dead and decaying than alive in the majority of the shots (not that it's really her fault -- it's the make-up department that did her in ). And like someone already pointed out here, the rural settings and desaturated colors don't speak Louis Vuitton to me either. Meisel's aesthetic is just not suited for this particular brand.

Most notably, however, none of this is anything we haven't seen many times before, from just about everyone, and better executed. Zzzz...

And what is with those tails?? How very tacky.

Maybe the concept suits Chanel more?

The shots are beautiful but quite busy for the eyes, I guess they make better editorials than campaigns.

you know, this actually seems like such an incredible idea. I mean, imo, it seems the whole Chanel collection would've been a perfect match and would've been executed better with this whole garden like scenery than the whole Vuitton collection which we all know was very japanese/traveling.

^ I thought they're Chanel ads before spotting the monogrammed bag in the first shot. The clogs are so similar.

I agree with the masses ... these seems like a bad ads for LV but great ads for Lara.
