Louis Vuitton S/S 2022 Paris

Nicolas looks confused and shook at the end. I guess the protestor got what they wanted?

haha wuat? I just watched the video and I loved it.I dont know if its because I am stoned and I am euphoric about everything rn or if its the simple set, all chandeliers, the amazing tense music and the mood of the collection that trick me.

...I feel like he is back again doing the cool oddness that I loved so much about him. But in a new updated LV way. For me this is his best collection for LV so far, I wasn't a fan of all his former LV collections.

Now I get his consistent direction for LV. In this collection his direction is sharper and more on point, thats what I like about it. In his past collections it always felt like experimentation of finding his style for LV.

And yes he shouldnt use the Gucciesque gimicks in the beginning( the sunglasses and crystal heads)

Casting was great as always.

This, for me, is the best collection he’s done for LV for a while. It’s easier to see the great pieces here and there and I think they tamed down the styling a little bit. But the show would be more impactful if they just hire another stylist because I feel that we all have given enough chances for MAS… One thing that I still don’t get is Nicolas was so good at striking the balance between being experimental and commercial back at Balenciaga, but he seems to have this problem continuously during this tenure. I think I can only name 3 collections where the styling is not a huge mess, like S/S 2017

watch it on mute. what an awful sad music.

not a fan of this at all.

Can he be replaced already, no way his clothes are actually selling.

it started but it got really bad and too quick.
what is going on with Ghesquière??? and to think he used to be one of my favourite designers!!!

This is so buck wild - they look like Final Fantasy characters.

I hate myself for liking the luggage bags ...

I dig it. Some of the silhouettes are a bit overworked (or severe, like the blazer on Clementine) and I feel like there's a bit of JW/Loewe-ish ness, but also some references to MJ's Vuitton days but there are some very nice looks, particularly at the beginning. At least he's pushing out some more fashion-forward collections recently. He's not going to push out Balenciaga level work anymore, but I am starting to appreciate LV more consistently than in past years.

This could have been a superb show, but as usual the styling ruined it. As usual there were too many accessories piled on and the shoes were hideous to the point of being distracting from the looks. Ghesquière + Hardy were an unbeatable combination. Fabrizio Vitti and Ghesquière do not work as well together.

Despite the brilliant staging and production value, his collections at Vuitton will eclipse his Balenciaga oeuvre, which was faultless and sublime. At Vuitton, Ghesquière tries way too hard to be avant-garde and "cool", as if to relive his former glory or something, but in the end it just results in some ridiculous clown clothes. Seriously, some of those pieces look like children's costumes.

It's obvious that people like Natacha Ramsay-Levi and Camille Miceli were positive influences on his work and aesthetic, and now that they're gone it's exposing his weaknesses. With all due respect, Marie-Amélie Sauvé needs to go, she is clearly not up for the job.

I have the sage, who has a match? Here there be evil spirits.

It’s not the same brand and maybe we shouldn’t have the same expectations.

I don’t think it’s something he can’t do more than something he don’t want to do.

Clearly he enjoy himself and this design process. I’m sure styling sessions are fun for him and it certainly doesn’t translate the same for us.

I like that he is not trying to compete with his glorious past.

I just love that like Loewe, there’s still a place for this type of ambitious propositions.

Is it him trying to relive his former glory days or us wanting him to relive his glory days?

It seems to me that he has moved on…
And it’s been like that for a while.

Absolutely trying to relive, and reclaim in a sense, his former glory in terms of influence, importance, and relevance. Indeed, it must be difficult to go from a position where you are creating really cutting-edge clothing and where you at the forefront of fashion, to becoming increasingly less influential and somewhat peripheral within the fashion landscape.

I loved every second of it! The way it is so deep into the french culture and fashion. The past clothing references mixed with the modern-day clothes, the casting, the OTT styling worked perfectly this time because it was about DECADENCE, it was excess like Marie-Antoinette was excessive at her time. Love how he always twists everything with a dark futuristic approach and with a touch of the 80s.

That's exactly what I needed after such a timid, uneventful Paris fashion week. Definitely my favorite show this season .

I still don’t really care about it, but it’s true that the styling has gotten so exhausting and does his work no favors.

With this particular collection, I feel like had these clothes been shown maybe with a sharp, stiletto black patent lace up leather boot…something sexy and maybe a little Victorian. And then maybe a chic, greased chignon…a very simple bag…probably would be a lot more desirable and beautiful proposition.

But these a$$ ugly shoes are the worst, the bags are too much, and I’m so done with all his collections having the same no-hair, no-makeup look. It’s boring.
